  • A Look Back at our First Year
  • June 2010 – newly elected officers took office
  • Established Bylaws and Charter
  • July 2010 – AAGIS is officially recognized as a subchapter of SCAUG
  • July 2010 to January 2011 – Held 3 Quarterly Meetings featuring technical presentations by ESRI and SAWS
  • November 2010 – hosted 8th Annual San Antonio GIS Day event at La Villita
  • Featured K – 12 & professional presentations, GIS lab, and GPS demos
  • Attracted approximately 1000 attendees
  • Set up webpage, Facebook, and Linked-In accounts to stay in touch with members
  • January 2011 – Held AAGIS Logo Contest, adopted new logo
  • February 2011 –Implemented GIS Day 2010 survey (thank you Joe Chapa!)
  • March 2011 – Held new officer elections
  • April 2011 – Membership increase from 0 to 81 since formally organizing
  • July 2011 – New board officially takes office

  • Region 20 – great location, has special fee for non-profits, geared towards conferences
  • NEISD center – has accessibility issues
  • Crossroads mall – very expensive to rent
  • Map Gallery - needs improvement!
  • Majority of attendees are from SAISD, NISD, + Laredo & Uvalde
  • ESRI presentations and training needs
  • Suggestion to send survey out to members to see what they use and want to learn
  • Future AAGIS presentation topics + discuss current trends in GIS
  • Desire to see how other folks are using GIS
  • Suggestion to showcase a portion of the ArcUser magazine Tips/Tricks section at each AAGIS meeting
  • Member GIS uses: how do you use GIS? What tools/software do you use?
  • Suggestion to create a list identifying local users’ proficiencies so folks can contact them if needed
  • Suggestion to post on SCAUG/AAGIS members only website list of the extensions/versions/servers folks are using
  • Government entities and desired presentations
  • Compile spreadsheet listing the major datasets maintained by different entities
  • Suggestion to request ESRI present on Community Analyst (similar to Business Analyst but for government entities)
  • Per Cindi Tuttle, the SGCC is compiling a list of what each entity is managing—to be published by the end of summer 2011
