To whom it may concern:

I am writing to obtain employment at the Pinnacle Health System as a registered nurse. You will find that my studies in nursing and pre-medicine at the Pennsylvania State University, along with my experience as a patient care assistant with the Pinnacle Health System and nursing student clinical experience qualify me for employment at your facilities.

During my nursing degree with the Pennsylvania State Second Degree Nursing Program I was able to learn and develop basic nursing skills along with more advanced assessment and critical thinking skills through classroom, lab and clinical experiences. In particular, during my last semester I participated in a 360 hour clinical immersion experience where I was precepted by two nurses on the Holy Spirit Hospital med-surg and labor and delivery units. During these hours I was responsible for the nursing care of my preceptors’ entire patient assignments, whichincluded performingphysical assessments, medication administration, basic nursing care, documentation and more. In addition to these to the more task oriented skills, I was also able to work on and develop time management, organizational and delegation skills. Another large part of my schooling involved both utilizing and researching evidence based-practice. Some of this experience included writing literature reviews and executing a quality improvement project at the Holy Spirit Birthplace.

My two and a half years experience as a Patient Care Assistance has helped me develop important qualities necessary for providing efficient patient-centered care. Some of these skills include organizing and performing basic nursing care, working as a part of a medical team and utilizing my leadership skills to precept new employees.

The following resume provides more information about my education and experiences. I would appreciate the opportunity to meet with you at your convenience to discuss my application. Please write to me at the above address or you can leave a message for me anytime at (717) 919-0782 or .

Sincerely,

Katelyn N. Swanger
