Statement of Professional Concerns
I have devoted my career to transformative change in libraries for 20 years. I sincerely enjoy my active and varied engagement in the American Library Association, its Divisions, Round Tables, and affiliated groups. I’m anxious to extend my dedication to the Association through the work of the Executive Board. Librarians stand at the intersection of users and society, users and technology, and users and information. At those intersections, librarians and libraries turn information into knowledge. It has always been my goal to contribute as much as I can to that knowledge—working with librarians, staff, and patrons—to improve services in libraries. I’ve succeeded in multiple settings, from private university to large research institution and from for-profit vendor to not-for-profit library cooperative. I’m eager to share the Board’s duties and responsibilities, and to contribute to their expertise with my own knowledge and global experiences. A proven record of service and experience, as well as my passion for libraries and our profession, will make me an important contributor to the Executive Board.
