03/01/17 / What do we know about Italy? What things do we want to find out? - KWL page. / Pupils complete a sheet outlining facts that they know about Italy already and what they want to find out. / Once sheet is filled out use it to help shape future lessons.
08/01/1710 / The Geography of Italy. Find out the major cities in Italy, the rivers and mountains in Italy and the surrounding seas. / Pupils use an outline of a map of Italy and atlases to label the major Italian cities, rivers and mountains in Itlay.
Plus include some neighbouring countries and seas. / In groups, pupils describe their maps. What places have they found and the other physical features they have located.
15/01/17 / Italian food. Elicit from the pupils what the significant Italian foods are there.
Pupils create a sketch of a typical Italian meal. / Understand what food has originated from Italy. Look at pictures of Italian food and see if they can design an Italian restaurant menu. Can include Italian flags and outlines of Italy in their description. / Ask pupils to introduce their Italian menu to the class and try and persuade people to come to their restaurant.
05/02/17 / Famous buildings in Italy.
Look at famous buildings and learn facts related to these buildings. / Pupils, after finding out about famous buildings in Italy, produce an information page including pictures of famous buildings and captions. Plus reasons why you would want to come to Italy. / Pupils present tourist information sheet to the class.
12/02/17 / The History of Italian football. Look at design of football strip and World Cup victories.
Learn some basic Italian, including colours and some greetings. / Draw up a fact sheet of football history including a drawing of the Italian football strip.
Look at Primary resources website: Powerpoint for teaching colours / Feedback on the history of Italian football.
