AIR-DISTRIBUTION EQUIPMENT (FANS)
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1DESCRIPTION
A.All work specified in this section is governed by the Mechanical General Section 15010.
B.This Section 15865 and the accompanying drawings cover the provision of all labor, equipment, appliances and materials, and performing all operations in connection with the construction and installation of the fans as specified herein and as shown.
1.2INTENT
A.It is the intent of this Section of the specifications to provide complete, operable, adjusted fans as shown and specified which are free of excessive noise, vibration and airflow fluctuations.
1.3BASIS OF DESIGN
A.The basis of design is Cook. Any proposed substitutions shall be proven equal in all aspects to the equipment specified as the basis of design. Particular attention is called to the requirements of Section 15010.
1.4ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTE MANUFACTURERS
A.Acceptable substitute manufacturers are Broan, Carnes, Penn, and Reversomatic.
1.5QUALITY ASSURANCE
A.Conform to Air Moving and Conditioning Association, Inc. (AMCA) Bulletins regarding construction and testing. Fans shall bear AMCA certified rating label and UL label.
1.6SUBMITTALS
A.SUBMIT SHOP DRAWINGS in accordance with Section 15010.
B.SUBMIT WITH SHOP DRAWINGS, operating point plotted on curves.
C.SUBMIT Manufacturer's printed installation instructions.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1CEILING EXHAUST FANS
A.CAPACITY: As scheduled on the Drawings.
B.FEATURES: Acoustically insulated housings designed for low sound level. Air deliveries shall be as indicated on the Drawings and all fans shall bear the AMCA Certified Ratings label and the UL label. Integral backdraft damper shall be of neoprene non-metallic design and shall be totally shatterproof. Fan shall have true centrifugal wheel with inlet perpendicular to, or remote from, inlet grille. Furnish with perforated steel grille with baked off-white finish and provide 85 percent free open area. Terminal box shall be provided on the housing with cord, plug, and receptacle inside the housing. Entire fan, motor and wheel assembly shall be removable without disturbing the housing. Fan speeds shall not exceed 1100 RPM and all fan motors shall be suitably grounded. Provide fan located in fire rated ceilings with UL listed ceiling radiation dampers.
2.1IN-LINE EXHAUST FANS
A.CAPACITY: As scheduled on the Drawings.
B.IN-LINE CENTRIFUGAL EXHAUST FAN shall be V-belt or direct driven type. Fan housing shall be of heavy gauge steel or aluminum with flanges for connection of ductwork. Motors on V-belt driven units shall be located outside of the air stream and shall be mounted on the side of the fan housing and shall be furnished with belt guards. Direct driven units shall have motor located in an enclosed housing isolated from the air stream with cooling air being drawn in from the outside of fan housing. Provide airtight access panel for access to motor and wheel. All moving parts shall be provided with vibration isolation.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1INSTALLATION
A.Fans shall be installed as indicated and in conformance with the manufacturer's recommendations. Coordinate the actual units to be provided with all trades.
3.02ADJUSTMENT
A.The fans shall be tested and adjusted after installation to provide the capacities indicated.
