1. Report on Questionnaires
Questionnaire 7 – Intermediaries. Due to changes in EU law, this questionnaire has been held back until the end of 2006, by which time the law should be more settled. Those who responded to an earlier draft of this questionnaire will be invited to respond to the revised version.
Questionnaire 8 – Limitation Periods. There have been 13 responses, enough for a report to be prepared. The deadline for responses is 31 March 2006, and it is hoped that the report will be published in time for the World Congress in October 2006.
Questionnaire 9 – Insolvency. The deadline for responses is 30 June 2006.
Questionnaire 1 – What is Reinsurance (revised). There have been only 3 responses. The deadline for responses is 30 June 2006.
Questionnaire 2 – Follow the Settlements (revised). The revised version of this questionnaire has been prepared and is ready for circulation. No deadline for responses has yet been set.
Questionnaire 3 – Proper Law (revised). The revised version of this questionnaire has been prepared and is ready for circulation. No deadline for responses has yet been set.
2. Update on Orders and Costs
It was reported that 150 copies of each of questionnaires 4, 5 and 6 had been printed. To date, the number of copies sold are:
Questionnaire 4 (event): 110
Questionnaire 5 (custom): 87
Questionnaire 6 (cut-through): 92
The offer by the Spanish section to translate the reports into Spanish has yet to be dealt with. The Mexican section has offered to co-operate in the translation.
Michael Gill raised the possibility of a quantity discount based upon purchases of sets of different reports. This will be considered by Colin Croly, chairman of the Working Party.
3. Update on Recent Developments
Updates on recent developments were presented by Rob Merkin and Michael Mendelowitz (UK); Guillermo Lascano Quintana and Nancy Villa (Argentina); Michael Gill (Australia) and
Sergio Ruy Barroso de Mello (Brazil).
4. Venue and Plan for Next Working Party Meeting
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 17 October at 5pm in the Congress Hotel, at the Buenos Aires World Congress.
Possible topics (to be confirmed) include: anti-suit injunctions; commutations; and natural and non-natural catastrophes
5. Any Other Business
It was agreed to discuss at the next meeting the preparation of a questionnaire and report on commutations.
