When will I receive my Water/Sewer/Trash Bill?

Water used in January, February and March is billed during the first week of April(1st Quarter).

Trash is billed quarterly. Exact payment due date is printed on your bill. Bills are due 30 days from the date of billing. **Please pay bill(s) on time in order to avoid late fees and/or service termination**

NOTE: Whether paying your bill on line, via postal mail or walking into the bank, please remember PNC Bank must have your property information along with the dollar breakdown for water, sewer and trash so the correct amounts can be posted to your account(s). Bills will not be accepted by the bank if the breakdown is not listed on your check or the top portion of the latest received bill is not accompanied with your payment. No blank checks please! PNC or the borough cannot fill out/sign your check. Thank you!

ORDINANCE REMNDERS

CONTROL & MAINTENANCE OF ANIMALS (DOG BARKING)– Pet owners are again reminded to control and monitor pets from barking excessively so as not to become a disturbance to others. Also, be a good neighbor and clean up after your pet when walking around the borough. Once, again pets are to be leashed and contained at all times.

CURFEW – Parents/guardians are reminded that persons under the age of 18 are restricted by a curfew between 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. the following morning for each and every day ofthe week. During these hours, minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The ordinance makes the parent or legal guardian responsible for thismisconduct.

GRASS/WEEDS – Property owners or tenants are required to keep grass and weeds

less than six inches in height.

BURNING – A new burn ordinance has been adopted by Council to include Portable

OutdoorFireplaces – An appliance includes but not limited to chimineas, patio units,

heating lamps and cast iron fire pits or device no more than 3 feet in diameter

manufactured outof non-combustible materials such as steel, concrete or clay to burn

solid fuel or propane, gas or other appropriate regulated fuel, clean wood, or approved

alternatives. The portable outdoor fireplace must be UL listed or approved by the

Borough Fire Marshall, Borough Fire Chief and/or Borough Code Officer. A portable

fireplace shall at all times be operated at a minimum of 15 feet from any structure or

combustible materialie; under trees and the flame height is to be limited to 3 feet. Fires

shall be attended at all times. All fires are to be extinguished no later than 12:00 am

(midnight) on Friday and Saturday and no later than 10:00 pm Sunday through

Thursday. Absolutely no burning of paper and/or rubbish. Recreational food only.

COMMUNITY PRIDE – In keeping with the community pride spirit we are asking homeownerslandlords to keep your lawns cut, bushes and trees trimmed,

curb lines weeded and front porches and sidewalks clear of clutter.

CODE OFFICER’S CORNER

A system has been established in alerting residents of ordinance violations. Green door hangers indicating the code violation will be placed on resident’s doors by the code officer, Anthony Campbell. These cards are NOT CITATIONS but are intended as FRIENDLYREMINDERS to residents to address the noted issues on the door hangers. Residents may direct questions regarding a violation card they received or general questions about the card system to Anthony Campbell, Code Enforcement Officer at 610.931.3040. Remember most building projects in the borough may require a permit.

Please contact Anthony prior to starting a project to verify whether a permit is required.

Shivery Funeral Home, Inc., is owned and operated by Steve and Jewell Shivery and their children. Steve Shivery is a life-long resident of Christiana and started working at the former Brown Funeral Home when he was 12. Jewell grew up on a dairy farm in Cochranville. The Shiverys reside at the Christiana Funeral Home. Both Steve and Jewell hold a Funeral Director’s License in Pennsylvania. In addition to the funeral homes, the Shiverys also operate Chantry Place, 15 North Bridge Street, Christiana, 610.790.9955; under the direction of their daughter Grace Frey. Chantry Place is a reception venue that can be used for weddings, showers, fundraisers and luncheons. Currently the historic hotel next door to Chantry Place is undergoing extensive renovations and will eventually be a 12 room boutique hotel and restaurant. Steve and Jewell love this beautiful little town of Christiana and envision a future where families will continue to want to raise their children here.
