DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to equip students with knowledgeof the concepts and doctrines in Nigerian Land Law. This branch of the law accounts for a high 90% of litigation spurned in the Nigerian courts today. in the first part of this course, students acquired the requisite knowledge of the Nigerian customary land law tenure system (communal land, family land, customary tenancy, pledge holdings etc.). The second part will acquaint students with the knowledge of the English doctrine of estates, the various statutes regulating land law in Nigeria and then the Alpha and Omega of all Land Statutes in Nigeria i.e. the Land Use Act. At the end of this course students become endowed with the various estates recognised at common law as well as the various Nigerian local statutes on land especially the Land Use Act 1978.
DELIVERY METHOD
This course will be delivered in a clinical way as conforms to the standard laid down by the Council of Legal Education (CLE) and the National Universities Commission (NUC). Students are therefore expected to be well prepared for class as participation in discussions and interaction with facilitators and students are part of the Continuous Assessment (CA).

Students are expected to come to class with the following:

MAIN OBJECTIVE
This course aims at:
Equipping students with the ability to understand the importance of the customary land tenure system to the Nigerian legal system.
MAXIMUM COMPLETION
The course outline will be taught and completed within Twelve (12) weeks.

ASSESSMENT
To receive a passing grade for PRL 411, students must average 40% or higher on the whole course and achieve a passing grade (40%) on the final exam.
