Purpose of the Scholarship

The Agnes Axline Memorial Endowed Scholarship will provide financial support to a deserving young woman who is a graduating senior at Medicine Lodge High School in Kansas. The successful applicant must plan to attend a four-year college, on a full-time basis. This is a one-time award to the successful applicant; a different graduating senior will receive the award each year.

About Agnes Axline

Cornelia Agnes Axline was born on February 1, 1916. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother and was an educator in the Kansas public school system for 35 years. Agnes and her husband, Robert, were life-long residents of Medicine Lodge. She retired from her career as a Kansas educator in 1973. However, she continued to serve the Medicine Lodge schools as a volunteer, working with young children to within a few years of her death. Agnes passed on to her reward on April 12, 2002 at the age of 86. She is remembered fondly by her family and by her many friends, coworkers, and former students. Agnes’ children have established this scholarship in her honor.

Scholarship Requirements:

  1. Must be a female.
  2. Must be a graduating senior at Medicine Lodge High School.
  3. Must report high school GPA and encloseofficialtranscripts.
  4. Must report and enclose official verification of ACT or SAT scores.
  5. Must intend to pursue full-time studies toward a four-year degree at an accredited college or university.
  6. Must intend to major in English, science, engineering, mathematics, or in education in one of these areas.
  7. Must describe extracurricular activities.
  8. Must supply two letters of reference (non-family members).
  9. Include parent’s most recent tax return.

South Central Community Foundation Scholarship Requirements:

  1. Application must be typed and signed.
  2. No high school email address will be accepted.
  3. Leave no blanks- if not applicable please type NA.
  4. Must be received/postmarked March 15th.

Failure to complete any of these requirements will disqualify your application from consideration.
