Objective #3 (Non-Emergency Needs)

All / Discussion of LIVE 54218 and are they going to get a grant for salary from GBCF (April) and will they change direction and no longer support EBT program.
1. Dane and Eau Claire counties have received grants for Food Prescription Programs. Targets food insecure people identified by questionnaire. (Food Insecurity hand out from Karen)
Program tries to ensure that people are using all programs that are available to them. Reviewed EC Strategic Plan short and long term goals.
On March 10th the EC group will be having a seminar to discuss their program. Do we want to be involved in this type of planning? Can we implement portions of their program into what we are doing? We could not take their entire strategic plan and put it into our work fully right now. John believes that this work would be done by a different group of people, but we could get the work started and then try to pair up with the new MCW group in our area.
We need to meet with Dane and EC to find out how they got started and how they got the people involved prior to hiring a community organizer.
Can we get a MCW member at CHIP or Beyond Health in the near future?
Can we screen for health deficiencies at the food pantry? / Update monthly
Karen will go to meeting and try to find out some info on how this got going.
Karen will update in March.
Objective #2 (Food Pantry Infrastructure Plan)
1. Next Steps – UWGB Student Research / Karen / All / Reviewed data from Scouting for Food and Letter Carriers Drive from 2013 for baseline- 1676 items donated.
2015, 788 items sampled. Mixed foods and Grains both went up significantly; low nutrient food went down slightly.
Next step to look at salt and sugar content in items.
Some expired items may be distributed up to two years after expiration.
Encouraging increases and drops in appropriate categories. Looking for a 5% increase in healthy food donations. Interim goal is 2% for first year.
Chrystal is waiting on the mental health update to publish. / Leanne will update numbers by March 7th for annual report

Can we cross post onto Instagram or Twitter? Steering committee would have to approve setting up separate accounts for the group.
We have scheduled Facebook posts for the upcoming month. We are trying to encourage our members to mark them on our calendars and go out and share the post so it hits a larger group of people. I would like to send this out monthly. Meredith, Laura and myself plan to meet the hour before every CHIP meeting and schedule out the following month.
How will we pick up this work with Ellen retiring?
