Present were: Steve Mocco, Victor Balmeceda(8:18), Bryan Davis, John Lawton, Brian Abdon, Shawn Woods, Chris McNealy, Jeffery Wood, Jeremy Mosley, Humberto Miret, Nick Alvarez,Shawn Sheldon, Andy Bricker, Rick Dozierand Mervin Ford.
Absent were:Michael Porcelli, David Parmenter,Chris Ramos, Larry Wohlabaugh, Wade Schalles, Art Mosley, Josh McIntosh, Matt Van Hoecke, John Parmenter, Isaiah McNealy, andBlaine Ison.

Announcement of Quorum Call to Order/Welcome: John Lawton, Secretary, called the roll and announced a quorum was met. Steve Mocco, State Chairman, called the meeting to order at 8:08 PM EST.

Conference Call Etiquette
Financial report by Treasurer – There was no report.
Resignation of East Area Board Member – Larry Wohlabaugh has submitted his resignation from his position as Director in the East Area. John Lawton made a motion, 2nd by Nick Alvarez, to accept the resignation and to thank Larry for his service to FAWA and its wrestlers. The motion passed without objection.
Nick Alvarez, made a motion, 2nd by Shawn Woods, to appoint Steve Price to the open position of Director in the East Area. The action is pending until Price obtains a USA Wrestling Membership for this Membership year. The motion passed without objections.
Old Business:
1-Approval of Meeting Minutes – John Lawton made a motion to approve the Minutes of the 2017 Annual Meeting but there was no second. Shawn Sheldon and Shawn Woods both stated they had not received the minutes. Note – after the meeting Woods apologized because he had received the draft of the Minutes sent out by the Secretary on October 26, 2017.. Sheldon stated that since he gets so much email, he had blocked receipt of all emails and requires the sender to verify they are not spam.
2-2016 FAWA Tax Report – there was no report.
3-Membership Report - John Lawton said he would report on the figures in the Meeting Minutes. As of September 30, there are 708 athletes, down from 913 in 2016. Coaches are at 111 up from 109; Clubs are at 41 up from 38; Event Sanctions are at 14 up from 4; Officials are at 28 up from 19.
4-State Tournament Updates – There was no discussion of this item.

New Business
5-Tour of Florida - There was discussion about a points system that will be published on the FAWA web site. The next item will be to move forward to talk about hosts.
6-National Team Leaders
- SE Regionals – John Lawton made a motion, 2ndby Nick Alvarez, to appoint Steve Mocco as Team Leader. The motion was approved without opposition.
- Schoolboy Duals – There was a discussion but no motions on this opening.
- Cadet Duals – This event will be held in Spokane, WA., in 2018 & 2019. Humberto Miret made a motion, 2nd by Shawn Sheldon, to appoint Brian Abdon as Team Leader. The motion was passed without objections.
- Junior Duals – Nick Alvarez made a motion, 2nd by Humberto Miret, to appoint Humberto Reyna as Team Leader. The motion passed without objections.
- Kids Nationals – Brian Abdon made a motion, 2nd by Nick Alvarez, to appoint Steve Mocco as Team Leader. The motion passed without objection.
- Fargo – There was a discussion but no motions.
- Girls – There was a discussion but no motions.
7-Team Florida Uniforms- open bids – There was a discussion but no motions.
