HOURS: Full Time35 per week

SALARY: £33,113

JOB PURPOSE:

We are currently seeking an exceptionalFinance Managerto manage the day to day operations of all the financial functions of our successful local charity.

The successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of financial procedures, deliver effective budgeting and have excellent communication skills. The role will report directly into the Chief Executive and be fully answerable to the Board ofTrustees & SMT

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Support the Senior Management Team in preparing, managing and monitoring the annually allocated budget.
  2. Ensure that the charity’s financial policies and procedures are consistent with the requirements of the auditors.
  3. Prepare forecasts of income and expenditure, communicate a timetable of financial and management accounts and assist in the preparation of cash flow forecasts.
  4. Be responsible for the end of year processes, provide information and prepare our annual accounts prior toaudit
  5. Oversee the management of all company accounts.
  6. Monitor the departmental budgets producing regular reports.
  7. Ensure accuracy of our payroll and auto enrolment obligations
  8. Advise on purchasing procedures, including guidance on best value suppliers and ensure cost effectiveness for the company in the provision of goods and services.
  9. Prepare regular, standard financial accounting reports for the Senior Management Team and Board of Trustees
  10. Update and reconcile key balance sheet accounts monthly.
  11. Generate and maintain cost control spreadsheets, such as KPI, staff costs, utility costs and local variance reports.
  12. Maintain asset register and data in the finance system and reconcile with schedules.
  13. Prepare budget data for potential new services or ventures for department managers to review. Participate in budget meetings with Trustees and managers as required.
  14. Consolidate and reconcile budget and forecast data.
  15. Derive an ethically sound, value for money charging policy for the organisation which can be applied across all Age UK Salford’s charged for services.
  16. To lead on our ISO 9001 quality system and liaise with nominated department heads on appropriate Health and Safety legislation compliance.
  17. To lead and develop an IT strategy for the charity
  18. To oversee organisational maintenance responsibilities, procurement and best value.
  19. Take overall responsibility for our administration functions within the charity
  20. Review and develop financial processes and systems. Provide support and training on Excel and finance systems and procedures.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.To work within the Age UK Salford policies and procedures and ensure compliance with Health and Safety and all other legislation and ensuring the provision and monitoring of equal opportunities.

  1. To communicate effectively by maintaining clear concise and open communications at all times, ensuring the Line Manager is kept fully informed and updated.
  1. To demonstrate personal leadership by contributing towards continuous service improvement adopting a positive approach to change and willingness to seek solutions to resolve the day to day challenges of delivering effective services for older people
  1. To attend regular formal supervision with the Line Manager and undertake training to update skills and knowledge appropriate to the role

5.Willingness to work outside normal working hours including evenings and weekends and to participate in promotional, fundraising and income generating events, activities and any other duties as may be reasonably required by the organisation.

  1. Experience within the charitable sector and a thorough understanding of the current issues and complexities
  2. Experience in a senior management position, and in financial management and interdepartmental budgeting across a number of contexts
  1. Clear understanding of Charity Fund accounting, SORP 2005 and incoming SORP 2015, The Charities Act and accepted accounting principles, tax, National Insurance and pensions legislation, and knowledge of Sage Line 50 and IRIS Exchequer
  1. Experience of managing a payroll function
  1. Proven record of organisational business partnering and relationship management, and able to earn respect, break down resistance, and bring together a wide range of views to build consensus and agreement
  1. Experience of managing an IT strategy, willingness to devote a proportion of time to IT development.
  1. You will have excellent analytical problem solving skills with the ability to communicate complex financial matters to non-financial staff.
