After School Sports Program

Dear Parents and Students,

Sol Feinstone Elementary offers an After School Sports Program for all fifth and sixth grade students. The students will participate in various intramural leagues, tournaments, and special events throughout the school year. The goals for the After School Intramural Program are for students to:

1)Enjoy physical activity in a sport environment

2)Learn about cooperation, sportsmanship, and leadership

3)Improve sport skills and fitness levels

The After School Intramural Program will be run by Mr. Oldfield and Ms. VanKuren. The program will begin onTuesday, October 6th for 6th Graders and Wednesday, October 7th for 5th Graders. All 5th and 6th grade boys and girls interested in the After School Intramural Program should attend this session. The first two weeks will be practice sessions as we prepare for our first league, flag rugby. After these sessions, all students will be placed on a team, and we will follow a regular schedule for game days. The teams and season schedule will be posted on the After School Sports website after the second practice sessions.This information can be located on the Activities section via our homepage or through Mr. Oldfield’s Physical Education page. All games will occur on Tuesdays and Wednesdaysuntil the end of the season. Students and parents must be aware that when the leagues begin, students will only play on their assigned day and may not play every Tuesday and Wednesday.

Please check the website weekly to ensure that students are staying after on the correct days. There may be cancellations throughout the year due to emergency situations or poor weather after school. Cancelled games may result in make-up games at the end of the league season, therefore, changing the schedule posted on the website. All announcements about cancellations will be made to students in school and will also be posted on our site. Often times, weather cancellations are made by the district.

The program will end at 4:30 every Tuesday and Wednesday. Parents will be responsible for transportation. Please remember to be on time to pick up your child or make arrangements with another parent if necessary.
