Governmental Affairs Committee

Chair: Mike Mitchell

Next meeting: January 19

Objective: To build a pro-business climate by fostering relationships between the business community and elected officials and advising the Fayette Chamber Board in setting Chamber agenda.

November and December 12, 2017 meeting cancelled due to lack of actionable agenda items. The committee is waiting on the agenda from the Georgia Chamber and there is no local issues at this time.

Programming and Business Support – Goal 2

Ambassadors

Next meeting: Wednesday January 17 8:00am to 9:00am

Objective: To assist the Chamber with retention and membership focusing on connecting with new members who have joined the Chamber in the past two years as well as to serve as the goodwill arm of the Chamber.

Golf Committee

Chair: Brian Chustz & Sal Longo

Last meeting date for 2017: April 4

Objective: To assist in the planning and execution of the Fayette Chamber's annual Business on the Green spring golf tournament. Duties include securing sponsorships, collecting raffle prize items, and volunteering on tournament day.

Proposed 2018 tournament date: Thursday, March 29; plan to hold first committee meeting in January 2018

Industry Council

Chair: Ken Takekawa

Next meeting: February 2018

Objective: To provide a forum for industrial, high-tech and other larger employers to exchange best practices on business operating systems, workforce, and other relevant issues.

The Industry Council is planning changes for 2018 to increase value and attendance. Staff held a preplanning meeting with Ken Takekawa and Greg Wright to brainstorm meeting topics such as 5S Steps for Success, job fairs, Industrial 4.0. Council members will be surveyed to determine preferred meeting time. Council meetings will begin in February.

Health & Wellness Council

Leadership team: Miranda Henry, Adam Glendye, Anne Williams

Next meeting: January 10

Objective: To provide a resource for information and collaboration and serve as a connected network of health and wellness industry providers.

Leadership team planning meeting to be held December 11 to plan for 2018 meeting. Council meeting moved to January, April, July, October schedule.

Community Engagement – Goal 3

Education and Workforce Committee

Education and Workforce Chair: Kim Schnoes co-chair – Tami Morris

Objective: To implement strategies and tactics that support the Fayette Visioning Education’s goal, “Fayette County will have an education system that is recognized as a national and international leader.”

Committee members invited to Fayette Visioning Summit to hear successes of 2017.

Fayette Visioning Board

Chair: Randy Weaver, Pam Reid 2018 chair

Next meeting: January 24

Objective: Vision: Fayette County is the place where bold ideas become reality. This is achieved through our collaborative and inclusive leadership that elevates education, prosperity, employment opportunities, and quality of life to unrivaled heights

The Summit was a big success. Fayette Visioning will begin discussions on the next steps for Fayette Visioning as the five-year plan nears completion in 2019.

Fayette Visioning – Community

Objective: To implement strategies and tactics that support the Fayette Visioning Community’s goal, “Fayette County will be a model community for embracing changing demographics and building a place where all types of people are welcome and can find a home.

Startup Committee

Startup Committee chair – Jeremy Anderson

Startup Committee next meeting: January 24

The committee has set the date for the StartUp Forum for April 24. The welcome keynote will be Cliff Oxford of Oxford Entrepreneurs and the wrap up keynote will be John Yates of Morris, Manning & Martin. The committee is working on two tracks for the rest of the program. It will begin at lunch and include a reception. The next networking event is March 29

Fayette Visioning – Place
