- MATH P122
Course units revised to 4 unit/72 lecture. The COR will be revised, but maintain requirement of CID descriptor. Possibly use “Pass” students to show student how to use calculators. Math faculty members were concerned that other Math course units would be reduced for no other reason than the fact this course was reduced. The curriculum chair assured the Math faculty that each and every course has and will continue to be reviewed and evaluate on its own merits. This course was put on the agenda by the chair with the approval of the MATH division, Curriculum Committee, and the Vice President of Instruction ahead of the normal review workflow. This course was originally launched during the academic year 2013-2014 but previous proposal was not supported by the campus administration. This current version of the COR was input and launched by the Curriculum Chair in order to expedite the process as this course is already out of compliance with state chancellor guidelines. This most recent edit was submitted to the MATH faculty for final approval and one Math faculty approved it via email(Miguel Ruelas) and at least one other faculty approved a printed copy(Stewart Hathaway) on 8-26-2014.
Motion:To approve MATH P122 (Summer 2015).

Other:
- Report-Curriculum Chair
The Chair asked for nominations for Curriculum Chair.
Motion:To approve nomination of Kailani Knutson
M/S/CVega/Entz
- CNET workflow
Matt Jones at the District office is working on the approval cue. James will keep the committee updated on the process.
- Idea-Consent Items:
The Chair discussed expanding the use of consent items to expedite curriculum meetings. The consent items may be used for minor changes that may have been missed during curriculum in a previous meeting. An example would be a top code that does not match the SAM code, misspelling in the catalog description, program not marked, degree applicability, prereq does not match catalog description, etc…..
Motion:To approve expanding the use of consent item.
M/S/CVega/Knutson
- Idea: New Submission & Evidence Deadline Policy
Discussion regarding timelines of courses added to the agenda and launched in CNET. James will send an email with the policy from the curriculum handbook to all members to review for further discussion.
- SLO Committee Status
The Curriculum Committee and SLO Committee are both subcommittees of the Academic Senate. The committee discussed placing the SLO committee under the Curriculum Committee. The committee had concerns that some issues that come up in the SLO committee are an Academic Senate issue not a Curriculum issue. The Curriculum Committee can help with CNET work flow and processes.
- Remind faculty about requesting review
The Chair asked the representatives to remind their divisions the process to get their curriculum reviewed. Some new faculty may not know that curriculum should be complete before it is launched or that they need to send an email to the secretary to have it on the agenda.
- C-ID
Miles provided an updated list of courses submitted for CID approval and where courses are currently in the process. He has asked that the committee notify their division that they need to email Miles when they need a course submitted for CID approval. Faculty need to include the course and the CID number of the course. Some subject areas take longer than others to be reviewed. Some courses have been in the cue for several years and Miles will follow up. Faculty are encouraged to sign up as CID course reviewers.
Next Meeting: September 9, 2014.
