New Business:

  1. CNET approval process

Jon Satko walked through the CNET approval process with the committee. There appears to be some discrepancy with the approval queue. Faculty should continue to notify the Curriculum Chair that courses have been submitted until the approval process is working correctly. The Chair will take all comments to send back to the originator.

  1. Course outline validation

Dr. Beheler asked the committee how will the campus validate the COR data entered into CNET. After discussion it was determined that the Divisions would validate their CORs. An email notification will be forwarded to Division Chairs and Curriculum Representatives.

Motion:All CORs are to be validated by the Divisions and any changes will be submitted to the curriculum committee by November 22nd, 2011.

M/S/C: Vega/Benander

  1. Communication Studies Certificate

Dr. Beheler requested that Program SLOs for future certificates and degrees be included in the catalog description when submitting for curriculum approval. Although, the certificate notes that COMM P105, COMM P106, and COMM P170 are CSU GE approved, the approval is pending. There isn’t any reason that CSU GE will be denied.

Motion:To approve the Communication Studies Certificate.

M/S/C: Thompson/Vega

  1. BSAD P132

Due to time constraints the 1st and 2nd reading were combined into one reading. The division updated the textbook and reduced the units from a 4 unit, 72 hour course to a 3 unit, 54 hour course. The course impacts several certificates that the division is currently revising for curriculum submission.

Motion:Approval of BSAD P132.

M/S/C: Hargis/Sciacqua

  1. BSAD P140

Due to time constraints the 1st and 2nd reading were combined into one reading. The division updated the textbook and reduced the units from a 4 unit, 72 hour course to a 3 unit, 54 hour course. The course impacts several certificates that the division is currently revising for curriculum submission.

Motion:Approval of BSAD P140.

M/S/C: Hargis/Sciacqua

  1. ENGL P050

Susan Regier discussed with the committee that only one course under ENGL P101A may be used for GE elective. Miles Vega noted that a majority of the students take ENGL P050. Virginia noted that they could also be used towards students 30 unit remedial units. If they are remedial/basic skills they cannot be GE elective courses. Kathryn Benander stated that ENGL P052 prepares students for ENGL P101A. The division will submit a course revision with changes at the next curriculum meeting. The implementation date will be fall 2012.

Motion:To consider either ENGL P050 or ENGL P052 for elective graduation credits.
