Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

Board Members present:Powers, Weathers,and Bischof

The Chairpersoncalledthe meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. and distributed the agenda.

The Bayshore By-Laws, Article 2 was read to the Board: “The purpose of the corporation is to lessen the burdens of government by attempting to alleviate community tensions, discrimination, deterioration, juvenile delinquency, and other community problems through education, counseling, social functions, and community projects.”

President Powers announced that the following board member terms will end April 29th 2018: Gordon Powers, President, Brooks Morrow, Vice President, and Alan Godfrey, Tennis Park Coordinator. A request for nominations for new board members will be distributed by email to association members along with the duty descriptions.An invitation was extended to a current member to put hisname on the ballot to serve as President. A brief discussion was held on the duties of each board member. A few consolidations of positions were also addressed at the meeting. Elections will be held at the Bayshore April business picnic meeting.

The President, Gordon Powers stated that he has enjoyed the nine years he has served but this is his last. He stated that he and Jean felt that it was time that someone else takes over the President role of making Bayshore remain a strong and vibrant neighborhood Association. He will continue to serve as the Fire Department’s liaison for the neighborhood.

Secretaries Report:The minutes of the Novembermeeting were accepted as written.

Treasurer’s Report:The treasurer’s report on the association’s finances was distributed. January ending balance:$17,513.47

Committee Reports:

  • Lakeside Park:
  1. The present board membersapproved the renewal of the landscape contractor Green Thumb Landscape & Irrigation for the lawn maintenance of the Bayshore common grounds. His contract starts March 1st, 2018. A brief discussion was held between Weathers and Powers on the mowing and up-keep of the Gaspe Median which is included in the contract.
  2. Two trees near the boat launch were cut up and need to be hauled away. A request for work party volunteers of the Lake Park will be emailed to members.
  • Tennis Park:
  1. Ants are still a problem around the grounds. President Powers will ask the landscape crew to notify the Tennis Park Coordinator for the need of eradication.
  • Website
  1. The three present board members discussed the consolidation of theduties with the newsletter and neighborhood watch since there was not enough going on with both. There was also a suggestion to rename the position to Communication Liaison.
  • Membership
  1. The board welcomes the returning members Kevin and Kandace Terry on 3111 Greenwich Drive.
  • Government Liaison
  1. A brief discussion was held to merge this responsibility into that of the Vice President of the Association.
  • Newsletter and Neighborhood Watch –
  1. SCDOT Adopt-A-Highway project (Bayshore Community) will begin again in the spring. The cleanup for Bayshore Road will be planned sometime in March.
