ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS (RPS)
1.01 PROJECT IDENTIFICATION:
A. Rochester Public School District No. 535 is seeking proposals from qualified contractors for the Hawthorne Education Center Renovations, 700 4th Avenue SE, Rochester MN 55904.
B. Contractors will be selected using a low bid process.
C. Sealed bids for the Hawthorne Education Center Renovations for Rochester Public Schools, Independent School District No.535, will be received in accordance with the Bidding Documents prepared by 292 Design Group, 3533 East Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN 55406.

1.02 PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Hawthorne Education Center Gym Remodel
A. General Contract: The Project consists of remodeling the existing Hawthorne Education Center to create three preschool classrooms, one clinical education classroom and two toilet rooms within an existing gymnasium space. Work will also be done to raise the floor elevation and make improvements to a multipurpose room and add a space for a washer/dryer and a storage space.
1.03 BID DATE: SEALED BIDS MUST BE RECEIVED ON OR BEFORE MARCH 18, 2016 AT 2:00P.M. LOCAL TIME.
1.04 DELIVERY OF BIDS: School District No. 535 will receive bids until 2:00 P.M. local time on March 18, 2016 at the office of:

B. Bids received after this time will not be accepted.
1.05 PROCUREMENT OF DOCUMENTS BY BIDDERS:
A.Bidders may view and order Bid Documents by going to the Franz Reprographics web site at and selecting the Franz Public Plan Room.

2. Once you have selected the Project, please review the Bid Details for information onordering documents.

B. Bidders/Contractors are responsible for obtaining copies of the construction documents forbidding and construction, and for any costs incurred therein.
1.06PRE-BID CONFERENCE AND TOUR OF PROJECT SITE:
A. A mandatory pre-bid conference and tour of the project site is scheduled for March 4, 2016 at 8:00 A.M. atHawthorne Education Center, 700 4th Avenue SE Rochester MN 55904 and is for all respondents to examine existing conditions.
B. All contractors are welcome to attend.
C. Prime Contract Respondents are required to attend and will be responsible for any itemsdiscussed at this meeting.
D. The bidders will need to sign in at the main office at the location listed above.

1.07 NOTICE TO PROCEED: May 4th 2016
1.08 TIME OF COMPLETION: OWNER REQUIRES COMPLETION OF CONTRACT WORK AS
FOLLOWS:
A. Construction Start: Immediately following school board approval
B. Substantial Completion: August 19, 2016
C. Final Completion: August 31, 2016
D. Closeout Documents to Owner: September 30, 2016
1.09 BONDING REQUIREMENTS:
A. The Awarded Contractor(s) will be required to provide a Bid Bond in the amount of 10% and, ifawarded, a Performance Bond and Payment Bond in amount of 100% of Contract Amount.
1.10 OWNER’S RIGHTS:
A.The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids, accept any bid it deems to be in its bestinterest, to waive any informalities or irregularities in bids submitted, and waive minorirregularities or discrepancies in bidding procedure.
1.11 CONTRACTOR'S QUALIFICATION STATEMENT:
A. Prime Bidders who have not worked with the Owner on projects within 2 years shall be
pre-qualified. Owner’s pre-qualification process requires that new Bidders submit a completedAIA A305 - Contractor‘s Qualification Statement before bidding. Bidder shall obtain AIA form.
1.12 WAGE DETERMINATION REQUIREMENTS:
A. Minnesota prevailing wage statutes apply to this Work. Bidder is responsible for obtaining
schedule of prevailing wage rates and complying with these wage rates.
1.13 RESPONSIBLE CONTRACTOR ACT VERIFICATION FORM (ENCLOSED)
A. Per MN State Statue 16C.285, the Vendor shall complete the enclosed form verifying
compliance with the minimum responsibility requirements in the statute. Submit form with
Bid.
