ADVANTAGES OF NEW RESEALABLE BAG

FOR ORION ITEM NO. 3153

StorageMore compact and easier to store under seat, in glove box or in trunk than the clamshell. Many consumers also combine their flares with other emergency products and build their own emergency kit. The compact bag facilitates this process. For those consumers with medium to small size cars where storage space is at a premium, the bag minimizes packaging and allows for storage in the smallest spaces.

Access Easier to access flares in an emergency situation. There is no hard plastic or extra packaging to fight with when you need your flares. No scissors or tools are necessary to open bag. We have all struggled to open clamshell packaging. Trying to do this in the dark of night along a busy roadway is clearly not ideal. Ease of access is deemed critical and the bag is a significant improvement over the clamshell in this regard.

DeploymentThe bag design also facilitates deployment of flares. It is easy to grab the bag and quickly withdraw flares for placement along the road to create your safety zone. The hinged clamshell is functional in this regard but not as easy as the bag.

PerformanceAirtight and watertight bag greatly improves the “freshness” of the flares, thereby assuring longer product life and better performance. Pyrotechnic products tend to absorb moisture (even from the air) and moisture is the enemy of all pyrotechnics. Flares that absorb moisture are not as bright, tend to burn weakly and are therefore more vulnerable to wind, rain and snow effects. The new bag offered by Orion has been exhaustively tested in extreme heat, cold and wet conditions. If the bag is properly sealed, the flares will perform to their maximum effectiveness regardless of the heat, humidity and cold cycling that occurs in automobile trunks and glove boxes.

SafetyBy printing the use instructions on the bag itself, including the cautions and warnings, consumers will always have the information they need when they need it. The insert cards in the clamshell can become separated from the package such that the critical information needed will not be readily available. While it is true this information is also printed on each Orion flare, the bag is far easier to read with larger, crisper type than on the flare tube and is preferable for maximizing comprehension quickly in low light conditions.
