CHURCHILL COLLEGE

Advanced Student’s Office Assistant

Fixed-Term: 14 August - 13 October 2017

Introduction

Churchill College is one of the thirty-one Colleges of the University of Cambridge. It was founded in 1958 as the national memorial to Sir Winston Churchill. Every student at Cambridge University must be a member of a College. The Colleges provide a key proportion of student teaching: small group tutorials, known as supervisions and residential, social and welfare facilities.

Churchill College has one third arts students and two thirds science students. It also has approximately one third post-graduate students, all of whom are administered by the office of the Tutor for Advanced Students. Pastoral support is also provided by two members of the Fellowship who act as Graduate Tutors, and a network of Fellows acting as mentors to students working in or near their field. Approximately 70% of the post-graduate students come from outside the UK. Unusually, the College has accommodation for 20 students with families on the site. The College accommodates about 190 of its post-graduate students, mostly on the main college site where there are extensive sports and social facilities, and central catering.

The Tutor for Advanced Students is supported by a full time Graduate Student Administrator.
