AdvancED CIC InformationMarch, 2015

Can you believe January is almost entirely behind us? We wanted to touch base with you for several reasons. We would like to remind folks about the AdvancED Wyoming Spring Continuous Improvement Conference in Casper, March 2-3, 2015.This is the place to be! Come ask some questions of the AdvancED Wyoming Managing Office and Lead Evaluators and pick up great tricks from peers who have been through Internal and External Reviews. Plus it is always fun to network with colleagues. Don’t forget about the Excellence in Education Banquet! We are looking forward to seeing so many old and new friends in Casper!

AdvancED Wyoming will be located in the Mezzanine area of the hotel. We will host drop-in question and answersessions all throughout the Conference. Additionally, AdvancED Wyoming will present two break-out sessions:

Let’s Talk IEQ!

Eleot! What is it? How Is It Changing Education Dialogues?

Folks who have purchased the app will contribute to the discussion so you can learn more of what the app has to offer

AdvancED Wyoming encourages its Lead Evaluators and State Council folks to take advantage of the wonderful sessions and use this conference for some of their own personal and professional development. We are confident that there is something for everyone at this conference!

Other AdvancED Wyoming-related sessions that we encourage folks to consider attending are:

External Review Preparation Simplified (aka—Internal Review Activities)—Jay Harnack

From Start to Finish: Aligning Your Strategic Planning Process to the AdvancED Standards —Jay Harnack

Continuous Improvement Planning for School Success—Dianne Frazer

IEQ Challenge Information

Additionally, this email brings you the IEQ Challenge Package. Initially, this challenge was designed to help only those districts hosting an External Review in October 2015. That seemed rather hypocritical when we expect all schools to do each of these activities every year. Consequently, all districts are welcome to use the tools that are hyperlinked throughout this IEQ Challenge Package. It is like I used to tell my students “Forget the book! Use what I provide. It is easier, quicker, and more effective.” 

The Step by Step sheet delineates the steps to take to perform an Internal Review. After Step 1—contact this office! We will be off and running at that point.  Please email me on or before February 10thto let me know if you would like to participate. We will be readily available for all of our districts, but our IEQ Challenge districts may need some special attention which we are ready to provide. Please do not hesitate to ask for anything else you may need! This is the first IEQ Challenge, so there will undoubtedly be errors and things we need to improve upon. That is OK. We won’t know what works until we try.

Surveys

The next topic is surveys. Many districts are probably gearing up to set up and administer the AdvancED Surveys. It is imperative that the DISTRICT set up the surveys at the district level. This quick (4:00 mins) video shows how set the surveys up to ensure appropriate aggregation and disaggregation of results.

Best Practice Information for Each AdvancED Indicator

I have secured a booklet that cites various best practices related to different AdvancED Indicators. Here is the link for the Resources for Standards booklet. It has also been added to the AdvancED Wyoming Tool Kit. This resource is something that has been requested time and again. The folks in the AdvancED Indiana Managing Office did a beautiful job putting this resource together. We hope you find it of value.

If you have questions, concerns, comments, just shoot me an email. Things are looking UP for education in Wyoming. Let’s just keep moving forward!

Warm regards,

Geri
