PART-TIME/FULL-TIME: Full-time NUMBER OF HOURS: 40/week

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for implementing and managing the statewide Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) initiative developed by DCF & DMHAS to create a statewide system for the prevention and treatment of FASD in CT. This includes community development, statewide coordination, training, promotional and administrative aspects of the program. This position will represent ABH® and its services in a positive and professional manner and adhere to ABH®’s best practices, guidelines, policies and procedures as established, promoting ABH® as a leader in behavioral healthcare in all interactions and work.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops with DCF and DMHAS a FASD policy statement and state plan
  • Develops a Core Team of key stakeholders to provide oversight and guidance to the program
  • Collects and disseminates current literature on FASD intervention and scientifically validated FASD intervention approaches
  • Manages education and training programs on FASD for providers in CT to promote competency in the fundamentals of FASD
  • Chairs the statewide committee on FASD
  • Works with DCF and DMHAS on FASD projects
  • Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders on workforce development related to FASD
  • Assists with statewide planning for early intervention and treatment of FASD
  • Develops and assists with dissemination of evaluation strategy for FASD programs
  • Identifies needs assessment tools for FASD
  • Ability to engage state agencies to participate as needed
  • Understands the systems level focus of the statewide program
  • Serves as liaison between stakeholders and FASD treatment providers
  • Prepare quarterly reports on program activity to contractors
  • Maintains confidentiality of all client protected health information and adheres to all HIPPA related to policies and procedures;
  • Demonstrates ethical behavior and cultural sensitivity in all activities involving individuals of diverse backgrounds;
  • Performs other tasks/responsibilities as required to support the business operations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Clinical Master’s Degree, licensed preferred
  • Three + years working with or on projects related to FASD, preferred
  • Attends annual Conflict of Interest training.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated broad knowledge of mental health and substance use disorders and treatment and the role of the consultant in bringing about organizational and system level changes;
  • Assessment and referral of individuals with substance abuse and/or emotional problems;
  • Group facilitation and training skills;
  • Ability to travel as required;
  • Ability to work well independently and in collaboration with other management, staff team members, external stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large systems to assess and make improvement/changes as needed;
  • Strong ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders both in and outside of ABH;
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to work on multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
  • Excellent PC skills with demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Package (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Outlook); internet;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10 – 20 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information. The associate frequently is required sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.

Regularity and consistency of attendance is essential to ensure high quality service and ultimately a productive department and company.
