Aims and Objectives / The aim of this session is to developan understanding of what ADHD is and referral pathways.
- To understand how ADHD is recognised and assessed
- To understand who can diagnose the condition and how it is treated medically
- To have an overview of how to understand and manage the behaviour of this client group.
Objectives
The attendees will have an understanding of:- The signs and symptoms of ADHD.
- How a child is assessed for ADHD.
- Once a diagnosis is made, what medication can be offered and what the pro’s and con’s of medication might be.
- The specifics of behaviour management both short and long term.
Target Group / All CYPD Social Care or CAMHS staff who are directly involved in the care of Looked After Children or Children in Need
Please Note (there will be a separate date specifically designed for Foster Carers)
Successful applicants will receive course instructions three weeks prior to the training date. All applicants must return the confirmation slip or their place will be reallocated and they will be refused entry into the session.
Failure to attend a training session without prior notification will impact upon any future training applications that are submitted
