SALARY: / Scale 5 pro rata (£20,867-£22,886)

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
  • Springfield Project staff and volunteers
  • Adults and children using the Springfield Project services
  • Local churches, especially St Christopher’s Church
  • Other organisations working in health and wellbeing in the area inc GP surgeries and health centres

JOB PURPOSE:
The Springfield Neighbour Scheme is a social prescription project newly developed in conjunction with local GP services.
  • To take the lead in the recruitment, induction, matching, training, coordination and supervision of volunteers involved in the Springfield Project.
  • To work with the Springfield Neighbour Scheme team to provide tailored packages of activities to targeted adults requiring support, as determined in conjunction with the local GP.
  • To undertake home visits with the Neighbour Scheme Outreach Worker to adults requiring befriending support.
  • To work with the Children’s Centre Manager and Seedlings leaders to coordinate the use of volunteers within services for children and families.
  • To work with the Acting CEO and Project Development Officer to develop new volunteering roles and services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • To recruit appropriate volunteers to assist with the delivery of all of the Springfield Project services, including the Springfield Neighbour Scheme, Springfield Children’s Centre, Seedlings Stay and Play, the Springfield Allotment and Forest School activities, Opening Doors and other evolving services.
  • To liaise with the CEO and service leads to develop a variety of volunteering opportunities within the Project.
  • To develop a recruitment, induction and training programme to support volunteers and offer regular individual and/or group supervision sessions as appropriate to support volunteers.
  • To be part of a team delivering the Springfield Neighbour Scheme under the scrutiny of the Project Development Officer, including a range of group activities and a befriending service.
  • To develop and maintain volunteer role descriptions, volunteer personal records and ensure all volunteers are appropriately checked and vetted before commencing.
  • To maintain accurate and up to date records in line with data protection requirements and with respect to confidentiality at all times.

  • To liaise with the service leads regarding the performance of the volunteers and any issues that need to be addressed.
  • To keep up to date with best practice in volunteering and ensure the Springfield Project becomes a beacon of excellence in volunteering
  • To promote the Christian ethos of the Springfield Project and promote the value of volunteering and volunteers.
  • To develop a system for monitoring the contribution made to the Project’s work by volunteers.
  • To be part of the service leads team and attend meetings as necessary.
  • To attend all staff meetings and project training days as required.
  • To carry out any other associated duties appropriate to the grade of the post, as may be required.
  • To attend relevant and mandatory training courses.
This is a developing role – other responsibilities may be taken on as the role develops.
WORKING CONTEXT
The post holder will be expected to understand the developing nature of the role within the Project. The post holder will be a member of the Project staff and will be expected to attend staff meetings and training days for the team.

Information must only be held for the specific registered purpose and must not be used or disclosed in any way incompatible with such purpose. Information must only be disclosed to authorised persons or organisations as agreed by the Director.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
The post holder is expected to work within the statutory and Project’s health and safety requirements.
