Adoption/Foster Care Program

Position Summary:

The Home Developer is responsible for the coordination and implementation of assisting families to become foster parents and promotes foster care services to the community. The developer will provide support and assistance to potential foster and/or adoptive parents. The developer will oversee, coordinate, and lead in providing or make arrangements for training of potential and active foster and/or adoptive parents.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Documents, develops, and implements prospective foster family qualification process.
  • Serves as primary point person for all incoming prospective foster families (provides initial screening and follow-up).
  • Build collaborative relationships with agencies, stakeholders, and organizations that can become collaborators with PCHAS in the goal of expanding the Foster Care program.
  • Design and implement an individualized training program that addresses the needs of potential foster and /or adoptive families.
  • Facilitates home visits for prospective foster families.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Human Services. Master’s degree preferred with coursework in the behavioral sciences.
  • Requires one year of professional experience in a public or private social welfare agency and extensive knowledge of modern methods and techniques.

Skills:

  • Requires in-depth understanding of a comprehensive field of knowledge. Involves the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions dealing with abstract variables.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal skills, public speaking skills, Training Skills, Organization Skills and the ability to successfully communicate in a professional manner with a multi-ethnic population base in the community; ability to effectively communicate in writing.
  • Understanding of PCHAS philosophy of care as expressed in the PCHAS Way. Competent skills to implement in accordance with the PCHAS philosophy of care.
  • Requires in-depth understanding of a comprehensive field of knowledge. Involves the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions dealing with abstract variables.

Other Requirements:

  • Self-management: Demonstrate self-control and an ability to manage time and priorities. Make sound decisions even under pressure.
  • Communication: Clearly express ideas, either verbally or in writing, to include but not limited to grammar, organization, and structure.
  • Work Hours will vary as many weekends and evenings are to be often expected.
  • Willingness to learn: Assimilate and apply new job-related information promptly.
  • Ethics & Integrity: Consistently earn the trust, respect, and confidence of coworkers and customers through consistent honesty, forthrightness and professionalism in all interactions. Includes meeting commitments and promises.
