Responsibilities

  1. Spiritual Matters
  1. Maintaining his/her spiritual vitality through private devotions, prayer, and involvement in his/her church.
  2. Encouraging spiritual growth within the faculty and staff of McMinnvilleChristianAcademy.
  3. Assist faculty and staff in integration of Biblical principles in subject areas as well as other areas of school life including social activities.
  4. Coordinating the Bible curriculum and arranging regular chapels
  5. Encouraging a spirit of Christian unity and fellowship in the faculty and staff
  6. Modeling spiritual qualities, including the fruit of the spirit to students, staff, and parents during all school and community activities related to MCA
  1. Function of the School
  1. Be responsible for reports as required by policies of the School Board or by local, state or federal departments including special reports, financial reports, enrollment and attendance records, health reports, maintenance reports, fire drills, earthquake drills, and growth projections.
  2. Bring recommendations to the School Board and carry out the policies adopted by the School Board.
  3. Keep the Board informed on state and local requirements and obligations
  4. Work with the Board according to Board policies in setting up and supervising:
  1. The school calendar
  2. The annual budget (tuition ,salaries, expenditures)
  3. The preparation of a school procedures handbook for the staff
  4. Locating, interviewing, and recommending teachers and staff for employment

5. Working with the teaching staff

  1. Participation in the selection of faculty and staff members
  2. Orienting new teachers and staff
  3. Assuring that teachers are appraised of and understand their duties and

responsibilities

  1. Providing for professional growth of the staff
  2. Encouraging faculty and staff to use materials and supplies efficiently and

economically

  1. Arranging and leading regular staff meetings
  2. Working with faculty to provide periodic evaluation of textbooks and other

instructional materials to keep the curriculum up-to-date and sound in content

and method.

  1. Assuring that teachers maintain or are eligible for proper teaching credentials

and are properly trained for their particular assignments.

  1. Using classroom visits and observations to help teachers increase their

effectiveness

  1. Dealing with staff problems according to the Matthew 18 principle.
  1. Administrate the students of the school:
  1. Approves all admissions, transfers, promotions, accelerations, retentions, suspensions, or expulsions in line with the policies adopted by the School Board
  2. Interview all prospective students and their parent(s) or guardians
  3. Assure that all transfer students are properly assessed
  4. Attempt to get to know all students personally and foster an approachable climate with each one
  5. Supervises the pupil progress reporting system and parent teacher conference scheduling
  6. Assure the student records are kept and dispersed in a manner consistent with the laws and regulations of the state of Oregon
  7. Be responsible for developing a wholesome respect for authority in the school, maintaining good pupil control and discipline, and handle all serious discipline problems beyond the responsibility of the teacher...that is to establish proper standards of pupil conduct.
  8. coordinate an appropriate testing program for the school and ensure students are achieving goals and benchmarks which are appropriate for their grade levels
  9. be responsible for arranging medical treatment for injuries and illnesses which are beyond the responsibility/capability of the other staff members
  1. Administrates the teaching faculty of the school:
  1. Counsels with teachers and parents in solving academic and other problems
  2. Confers with teachers on meeting class competencies and objectives
  3. Checks with teacher’s weekly class plans when deemed warranted
  4. Visits classroom and provides feedback to teachers
  5. Assists teachers in maintaining Christian discipline and room control as needed
  6. Assigns or schedules supervision of the playground, halls, and other school areas as needed
  7. Establishes and maintains a high standard of discipline and dress codes for both students and staff
  8. Conducts an annual evaluation of each teacher
  1. Administrates the office personnel:
  1. Supervises the organization of the school office
  2. Is responsible for seeing that accurate financial records are maintained
  3. Is responsible for selection, ordering, and approving for payment of all school books, supplies, and equipment necessary for the efficient operation of the school within the budget provided
  4. Assure that an up-to-date inventory of all school equipment, books, and supplies is kept and is responsible to have repairs, replacements, or additions of equipment is done as necessary
  5. Conducts an annual evaluation of each of the office staff
  1. Administrates the compliance and safety regulations
  1. Assures compliance with staff first aid training, blood-borne pathogen training, hazardous material training, harassment laws and policies training, evacuation routes and training, bus safety training, playground safety standards, and other state and federal regulations as required by law.
  1. Administrates special activities:
  1. Oversees a program of appropriate field trips, guest speakers, exploratory trips and other enhancements to the school program to provide additional instruction and interest for the students
  2. Oversees seasonal tasks such as the Christmas program, graduation, volunteer appreciation, and any other activity which are appropriate. The administrator may delegate some of these responsibilities to others who are capable of doing these jobs.
  1. Works with the School Board in public relations:
  1. Represents the school to churches, schools, civic and community organizations
  2. Deals with sales people, public schools, and the general public
  3. Assists the School Board in planning and implementing the advertisement of MCA
  1. Primary responsibility of the administrator:
  1. Assume responsibility, as determined by the School Board, for the efficient and safe operation of the school
  2. Assume responsibility for supervision of the teaching faculty and other staff
  3. Assume responsibility for the safety and well-being of the students
