Roll Call:

Administrative Representative/Chair: Dean Michelle Cheang

Faculty Representative: Dr. Martin Diaz

Campus Ombudsman: Vincent Jackson

ASO Student Representative: Antranette Phillips

ASO Student Representative: Yolanda Armond

  • Quorum Established

Public Comment:“Harold Lewis Computer Club President “How was the composition of the board chosen?”“You have a member of the ICC who is not a member of the board.

Chair’s Response: “We do not need to have a board member just a representative. As of now we have one campus administrator myself, faculty member Dr. Diaz, our campus Obudsman Dr. Jackson and two representatives from the local branches, Anntranette and Yolanda”. Thank You

Public Comment James Gooden: “Based upon the fact that there is a deep affiliation with the guy who brought the charges, I was wondering if there is any impartiality here today”.

Chair’s Response: We do have qurom there is different individuals, there is no impartiality here, we will be discussing this in a closed session so that no one is bi-partisan.

Public Comment:Nehasi Lee former paralegal student from West LA. Since I have been coming to these meetingsMy observations are that two particular individuals had the desire to not have Mr. Gooden be President. Those two individuals are Charles Greene, and Ms. Simona Daniels. Mr. Greene automatically becomes the President. My problem is that when most student leaders first take office they do not take Rodney King’s ammunition “Can’t we all just get along”?

Public Comment: Tierra Gipson Current Parliamentarian for Region 7, as well as the former Parliamentarian for this board. I would like to keep in mind that every member of this association is held to strict ethic code, by-laws, constitution, and the brown act and Robert rules of order. Mr. Gooden has openly admitted his guilt to the charges, in our last meeting. Please consider the facts

Public Comment: James Gooden “I have only been in office 27 days, we didn’t have an advisor on site and we never had a retreat. It was like the lost leading the lost. I did lose my composure at one point and that’s because it took 6 weeks for the President to confirm my status because the same people put allegations of impropriety. They also tried to veto the election and I have been undermined since I have been in office. There wasn’t any allocation of funds, we weren’t doing anything. I would like for this committee to take that under consideration.

Public Comment: Michael Hopper I am a 10 year faculty here at Trade Tech. I brought this broom so that you guys can clean up the mess. You all were elected to make a difference to clean up the mess that’s been going for quite some time in ASO. There has been a tradition of fighting within the ASO. Please remind yourselves that you represent the student body.

Public Comment: John Corey: “Mr. Gooden won his election even after all of the drama that surrounded it. I don’t even like the guy, but give him a chance to do his job if these charges aren’t all that serious. Since he has been in office I have noticed tremendous changes that have been implemented.”

Public Comment: Simona Daniels “To piggy back on what Mr. Corey said the changes that you have seen around here don’t have anything to do with Mr. Gooden. Since July 1st up until we had our administrative meeting Mr. Gooden has not been in office. The team that stayed in the office while Mr. Gooden was outside hanging out in front of Mariposa Hall all the time are the reason those changes have been made.

Student Council Verdict against ASO President

Discussion Items:

Student Council Verdict against ASO President on 8/10/2015

The ASO Executive Board unanimously decided to uphold the charges and to remove Mr. Gooden from office as the President based on the following charges:

The ASO Charges read as following:

  1. To be able to perform NO less than the minimum required ten productive hours a week of service. (Five productive hours if holding a Senator Position) and to be done in an effective manner relating to one’s position.

Mr. Gooden has not done his hours from July1, 2015- July 30, 2015. Nor has he stayed in the office longer than an hour. Mr. Gooden has been spotted multiple times out of class when told to the office that he was in class. Mr. Gooden has also been conducting outside business with other schools and organizations and not reporting to the board.

Mr. Gooden’s Response: “I was taking Math 125 and I am a student first”.

2.To conduct myself in my position with honesty, morality, sincerity, kindness, and good conscience in all dealings with both those involved with the ASO.

On July 1, 2015 former parliamentarian Shonteria Baker reported for duty after being promised a job of being an independent contractor at 15 hours a week at $15.00 an hour. Mr. Gooden lied, instead she has not been hired at all for the position, and she then began acting as Mr. Gooden’s personal assistant.

Mr. Gooden’s response “I had spoken with our former Dean Smith and told her that me and Simona would be rocking and rolling at that we would need extra help. Dean Smith said it was okay and there was an additional $17,000 left over so I decided why not give it to someone. Shonteria ended up becoming parliamentarian then and didn’t talk to me anymore”.

On July 23, 2015 Mr. Gooden lied and sent messages to the board members stating that our advisor Dr. Joof had informed him that Dr. Letia Royal Burnett was hired by the school as our co advisor.

“ I saw her husband, Mr. Burnett and he gave me the thumbs up, so I thought everything was cool”.

3.The use of derogatory language, drugs, and alcoholic substances is prohibited while in meetings concerning the campus and/ or function/conference where the ASO, LATTC, and LACCD are being represented.

On July 27, 2015 at approximately 12:05, the acting advisor Dean Dorado brought a box of t-shirts for the Board Members, when the executive secretary came to retrieve the box to distribute you snatched the box and stated she think she run every god dame thing!

On August 3, 2015 student Ryan Navavrette submitted a compliant to the ASO board, regarding your actions and statements made to him that day.

Mr. Gooden’s Response: I did say to Ryan that he wasn’t shit.

4.To ensure that NO fellow board or club member is attacked

On July 7, 2015 at 5:30 pm you allowed the former secretary Susana Navana to address the executive secretary, with verbal intent calling the executive secretary a “smart ass”, you did not ask Ms. Navana to leave the secretary made a phone call to the sheriff’s desk before you escorted her out.

Mr. Gooden’s response: Ms. Navana came to see me in my office, and Ms.Daniels gave h

Her a mouthful and I didn’t want to be apart of that.
