Strategic Priority A:
Educate Outstanding Graduates Who Meet the Needs of the State & Its Communities / For Research / Part of the Operational Strategic Plan for Research
Strategic Priority B:
Grow the Research Portfolio Focusing on Targeted Areas / I.  Vision
II.  Infrastructure / I. 1. Stimulated collaborative research utilizing the Collaborative Research Network (CORNET) Awards.
2. Created the Federated Model for UTHSC Clinical Trials and appointed the UTHSC Clinical Trials Governance Board.
3. Leading the completion and approval process for the Operational Strategic Plan for Research.
4. Hiring an Associate VCR for Global Partnerships.
II. 1. Led the completion and approval process for UTHSC Allocation of Research Space Plan.
2. Hired an Associate VCR for Cores.
3. Provided SWOT analysis and business plans for all Institutional Research Cores and gained approval for a more standard model for financing and annual review of Research Cores.
4. Had an external review of, and set a new direction for, the RBL. We are currently searching for a Director who is a leader in the field of Toxin research.
5. Completing a review of the size, organization, activities and policies of the Office of Research Compliance
6. Completing a review of the size and workflow efficiency of the Office of Grants and Research Agreements
7. Completing a review of the organization, policies and efficacy of the LACU.
8. Completing a review of the size, organization, policies and workflow efficiency of the Safety Office as it relates to research.
9. Hiring an Associate VCR for Global Partnerships.
Strategic Priority C:
Create Areas of Clinical Prominence While Expanding Outreach
Strategic Priority D:
Increase Visibility & Recognition of UTHSC Contribution / For Research / 1.  Publish the Research Rainmaker Quarterly
2.  Part of the Operational Strategic Plan for Research
Strategic Priority E:
Align UTHSC Resources with Areas of Excellence / Research Areas of Excellence / 1.  The Research Areas of Excellence, Focus Areas and Cross-Cutting Platforms were created as part of the Operational Strategic Plan for Research and was vetted by the Research Council and Research Committee of the Faculty Senate.
2.  The use of resources for these Areas of Excellence in found in the Operational Strategic Plan which is now being completed.
