Old Technology Plan Review
Current Status of Hardware, Software / What is the current status of this goal?

4.3 In Relationship to Education Improvement
Establish standards, benchmarks and assessments for core curriculum with application of appropriate technology skills.
Supply laptop to every staff member – to be used in instructional setting / Beginning to look at standards for curriculums and use these to write common curriculum and assessments - i.e. math and science. Hopefully technology needs are being addressed through committee work.
Laptops supplied to staff members – not always being used in instructional setting
Strategic Plan of 1995 required the district to develop standards, benchmarks and assessments for the core curriculum, including the application of appropriate technology skills. / District standards were replaced by the state standards to ensure consistency with the Wisconsin Student Assessment System.
Strategic Plan must include technology / New strategic plan – mamy of the site plans include curriculum areas (which hopefully will include technology as an instructional tool)
Educational improvement using technology as a resource for student learning / This goal is not being accomplished at West. With only one available computer lab for 6 grades of students there is no realistic access to technology. I had to replan my entire semester of speech three times to get the computer lab for 5 days for power point. Also there are only 25 computers and many classes have more than 25 students.
A laptop for every staff member by the year 2001 for use in the instructional setting. / All teachers that want them do have laptops.
Improve technology as a resource for student learning-Include technology skills in the standards and benchmarks / -Technology is somewhat integrated into the standards and benchmarks
1. District to establish standard, benchmarks and assessments for core curriculum.
2. Laptops for staff members by 2001 / 1. Current status: Benchmarks are not fully developed and the document is in progress. No assessments developed at this time. Document not adopted or used by staff- no awareness or accountability to the standards.
2. Current status: Staff have laptops, but they are not necessarily being used in the instructional setting. 1. Some staff never bring their laptop to school 2. Others even though their laptop may be at school, they login on a workstation ALL DAY to check e-mail and do not let students use that workstation.
-Strategic plan includes technology as a resource for student learning
-District establishes standards, benchmarks and assessments for the core curriculum
-Include technology skills within adopted standards and assessments / -Strategic Plan re-written
-Adoption of state standards including Information and Technology Literacy
Working on assessments for core curriculum.
Technology is to be used as a resource to achieve the standards, benchmarks and assessments in the core curriculum areas. / Technology is available but not uniformly applied to achievement of standards, benchmarks, and assessments in core areas.
- to develop technology as a resource for learning
-  to establish standards and bench- marks for core curriculum
