GENERALDEFINITION

UndersupervisionofBoroughManager, develops,manages,organizes,schedules,andevaluatesrecreational opportunities and resources for Perkasie Borough residents.Developsbudgetandprojectsmaintenanceandprogramminginacosteffectivemanner,referencingthe"ComprehensiveRecreation,ParkandOpenSpacePlan".Positionrequiresworkoutsideofnormalbusinesshours.

SUPERVISIONRECEIVED

WorkisgenerallysupervisedbytheBoroughManager.

SUPERVISIONEXERCISED

Provides direction to the Events Coordinator and supervises the seasonal staff at the Menlo Aquatics Center (approximately 60 employees).

KEYJOBRESPONSIBILITIES

Develops,organizes,andcoordinatesrecreationalprograms and events to meet the active and passive recreational needs of the community.

Administers the registrationproceduresforprograms and events utilizing MyRec software.

Interviewsandrecommends the hiringesof seasonaljobapplicantsfor the Menlo Aquatics Center (MAC).EstablishesandmaintainsHR policies and forms for MAC employees.

Overseespoolmanagerandisultimatelyresponsibleforthesuccessfuloperationsofthe

Borough’spools. Coordinates,records,andmaintainsrecordsformandatorytrainingandtestingrequiredforpoolpersonnel.

Managesskateparkskate park, dog park and other active recreation facilities owned or operated by Perkasie Borough.

Serves as editor for quarterly newsletter, The Perkasie Connection

Promotesprogramsviasocial media, newspapers,and other forms of advertising,tokeepthecommunityawareofprogramopportunities.

PreparesandrecommendsParkandRecreation budget andbudget and Menlo Aquatics Center budget toBoroughManager.Controlsexpendituresto be consistentwiththe approvedbudget.

Staffsandactivelyparticipatesin monthly ParkandRecreationBoardmeetingstocoordinate,discuss,recordmeetingminutes,andcarryoutfollow-upworkonmeetingoutcomes.

CoordinateparkandrecreationactivitieswithotherBoroughdepartments,especiallyPublicWorks.

Attendseducationalseminarstolearnnewprogrammingideas,administrativelessons,andtokeepcurrentwithnecessarylicensingrequirements.

Solicitsfundsfromlocalbusinessesas sponsors of special events and programs

Investigates grant opportunities pertinent to parks and recreation and applies for grants as directed by the Borough Manager.

Performsrelatedworkasrequired.

SchedulesgamesonLenapeandKulpMemorialParkbaseballfieldstoeinsureavailabilityoffieldforteams.

Maintainsfilesofindividualpoolmemberships.

Abilitytodeterminetherecreationrequirementsandtheneedforchangeinrecreationsprograms,asdictatedbythecommunity.

AbilitytointerfacewithBoroughofficialsindevelopmentandimplementationofprograms.Abilitytodealfirmlyandtactfullywiththepublic.

PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS

Abilitytositforupto4-8hoursperworkday.

Abilitytouseboththerightandlefthandforrepetitiveactionsincludingtypingandwriting.

BoroughHallbuilding, Borough parks and recreation facilities.

Boroughorpersonalvehicle,computer,two-wayradio,cellularphone,standardofficeequipment.

EDUCATIONANDEXPERIENCE

Bachelor’sdegreeinParkandRecreationManagementor related field

ComputerskillsofMicrosoftoffice, social media andgraphicprograms.

Progressively responsible experience in public relations, and the planning and developing community of programs and activities.

ContinueeducationbyattendingStateandNationalseminarsandparticipationinlocalrecreationcouncils.

LICENSE

ValidPAAutomotivedriver’slicense.

CERTIFICATIONS

Must obtain all clearances required by Pennsylvania Child Protection Services.
