Summary

Executive with a broad background in Computer Engineering from the School of Engineering, University of Chile, with international experience in planning and implementing major projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing administration and finance areas in Chile and Brazil, creating branches in several Latin American countries, reporting directly to corporate headquarters, negotiating with service companies and creating and developing internal computer science areas, Call Centers and Services. At the moment I am taking courses towards an MBA at the Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of Chile. I also speak and write Portuguese.

D-Link Latin America2002to 2008

IT and Service ManagerSantiago, Chile2006 – 2008

Createdand managed three areas: Information Technology, Services to external users and Certifications in the different technologies where D-Link operates. I supervised 11 persons (5 directly) in Argentina, Peru, Colombia, GuatemalaandEcuador.

  • Created and led the IT area that provides internal support in computer science to the company located in Santiago and to all the Latin American branches, creating and implementing corporate policies that resulted in a better use of the information system.
  • The Latin American network of toll-free numbers (“800 numbers”) grew to 5000 calls per month.
  • Participated in the design and implementation of the communications network between branches through MPLS connections at a Latin American level, allowing data communication, video conference and voice, and speeding up data interchange between theSantiago office andthe branches.
  • Participated in the design and implementation of a distributed mail system with servers in Chile, Argentina, Peru, Colombia and Venezuela, which freed thebranch mail system from the Santiago office.
  • Supported commercial areas by means of data analysis, specifically in the way data bases were arranged and managed, reducing response time to executiverequirements via Internet.
  • Created the external Services area and designed the services associated to company products, established the business model and negotiated with local companies in each country for the implementation of these services, creating a network of service providers.
  • Defined a cooperative educational plan with universities and institutions that made it possible to increase from 1000 to 3000 the number of students certified in various disciplines in Latin America.

Administration and Finance ManagerSantiago, Chile2002 - 2006

Participated in the company growth, from a company located in Chiletoa corporate main office in Chile and 7 branches in Latin America. Reported to the General Manager in Chile and the Chief Financial Officer of D-Link Corporation in Taiwan. Supervised 16 persons (6 directly) in Latin America.

  • Based on the corporate strategy, I created(legal, administrative and finance issues) the branches in Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Paraguay, Guatemala and Colombia, and participated in the creation of D-Link Brazil.
  • Implemented administrative rules and expense control in D-Link Brazil, achieving a major expense reduction.These actions, coupled with some executive changes, reverted the decision to close this branch.
  • Participated in company strategic planning based on D-Link corporate plans.
  • Established a network of external legal consultants’ offices, hiring local lawyers for each of the Latin American branches.
  • Implemented auditing standardsbased on corporate policies which, together with the increase in sales, allowed the company to raiseits internal level in the corporation.
  • Participated in the design and implementation of J.D. Edwards and Qlik View systems.
  • Incorporated a riskevaluation system for sales and contracts external insurance for the sale of international products, which made it possible to reduce the level of delaysby 50%.

Andina Division of Codelco Chile2000 to 2002

ITOutsourcing Manager (Sonda Chile)Los Andes, Chile

The IT Outsourcing Plan was implemented, giving IT support and updating communication systemswith the facilities in Los Andes, Saladillo, the underground mine, the open pit mine and the temporary camps. In addition, I actively participated in project studies and design, supporting the incorporation of technology. I had 20 persons reporting to me.

  • Participated in the creation and implementation of the Telecomando project: pneumatic hammers located in the underground mine are controlled and operatedby optical fiber from an office in Los Andes, located 40 km away.
  • Reduced costs and expensesand created other sources of financing not considered initially, that all together made the project viable.

Sonda Brazil1998 to 2000

Implementation of policies and standards established by Sonda Chile. I also developed the operation scheme based on the main office structure and served as the link between the project and systems exports from Chile to Brazil.

  • Achieved an important reduction in accounts receivable by means of a constant pursuit plan.
  • Participated in the analysis of projects and systems for its adaptation in Brazil.

Sonda Automatización (a branch of Sonda Chile)1994 to 1998

Traffic System ProjectChiefSao Paulo, Brazil1996 to 1998

Acted as project consultant and soon I led the implementation of the Traffic System project in three of the five zones in the city of Sao Paulo, developed by a British company.

  • Reports with a full description of activities and attached documents were submitted monthly to the project’s main board and to the municipal authorities, to obtain payment for services rendered.
  • Coordinated and established priorities for execution of civil works and installation of traffic lights and traffic controllers.
  • Participated in the implementation of the information system.
  • Maintained the project financial plans that were approved monthly by the main board.

Traffic System Project ChiefSantiago, Chile1994 to 1996

Participated in the implementation of the Traffic Control System projectin the eastern area of Santiago, developed by a British company. This meant compiling, formulating and submitting monthly payment statements to the project heads.

  • Participated in meetings to design street intersections.
  • Participated in the implementation of information systems to monitor and assign times to traffic lights.
  • Collected, created and submitted monthly reports to the project heads.

Sonda Gestión (a branch of Sonda Chile)1989 to 1994

Software Tools Department ChiefSantiago, Chile

Participated in software development projects

  • Headed the project and directly developed software for the last phase of the 1994 Elections project in Chile. This project was so important that the structure was used in the following elections.
  • Update of tools used in own environment (the Digital Vax) incorporating the Windows model.
  • Directed the conversion project from IBM systems to the VAX Digital System in Jakarta, Indonesia.
