Volunteer opinion:
" I was touched by the abundant generosity of the Indian people. I formed a relationship with a teacher and his family and would go to their house and teach his children songs and games. They were lovely hosts, always giving me tea and biscuits." ~ Paula Durham, Yorba Linda, CA "The relationships with the school staff developed gradually over the three weeks. The students were overwhelming in their warmth and affection. I was speechless the first time I was swarmed by children wanting my autograph. I will never read an article or see a film about India with the same eyes." ~ Kathleen Potier, Lancaster, PA "I was struck speechless standing in the schoolyard, surrounded by the children with their black dancing eyes and beautiful smiles. I was filled with thoughts of what their future might be like." ~ Mary Lentfer, Homer, AK "The children seemed happy and well cared for at the orphanage, noted Parsell. On only two occasions did I see a child cry and on both of these occasions, the child was up and running again in just a few minutes. I saw no real displays of anger. The older children would help with the younger. I would be proud to have any one of them as a grandchild."
~ David Parsell, Grand Junction, CO
"Strong bonds were forged between generations and cultures. I made some amazing friendships. I was welcomed as a family member. The children all called me 'older brother.' Giving of your time is very meaningful. This experience taught me the difference between want and need and it made me realize how fortunate we are as Americans. I was speechless everyday when I would see the smiling happy faces of these orphans who literally have nothing. They are more giving and loving than most people."
~ Tom Sperry, Portland, OR
