Rationale for Proposal / Issue Statement:
Currently DoIT provides web space for faculty. Due to budgets cuts, DoIT no longer provides Dreamweaver or other website creation training or support. From a recent faculty survey 70% of faculty stated that they did not use the university provided page. Of those who did not use their page over 50% stated that they either did not know how to access their page or that they felt they did not know enough about technology to update their page.
Drupal is the web content management system that SF State for departmental websites and collaboration websites. It allows users with minimal technical or web training to create and maintain websites. This project is to roll out faculty sites on the Drupal platform.
Goals / Expected Outcomes:
Gather and prioritize the requirements for faculty websites (eg support blogging, integration with SIMS, publication tracking software_.
