Tomorrow we’re going to read three short stories. In the first story Lin has a pet ram. Taking care of a pet can be a lot of work. Pets need to be fed and cleaned and cared for. Do you have a pet? What is your favorite name for a pet animal?

Calling an animal a big pest means that it is causing a lot of trouble. Try to imagine what taking care of a ram might be like. What kind of trouble do you think a ram that is a big pest might cause? Can you think of another kind of pet that might be a big pest?
FTouch and read the sentence with the students: 2. Lin bent down to adjust the ramp.
In this sentence the word adjust means to move or change something so it will work better. I’m going to read a list of things. Put your thumb up if I say something that you can adjust to make it work or fit better.
