HORRY COUNTY GOVERNMENT PLAN
After a disaster, Horry County Government will manage storm debris in one of the following ways:

- Activate an existing contract with a contractor to collect disaster debris from private roadways

- Recommend residents drop off debris at a County-operated convenience center

Horry County Solid Waste Authority maintains 24 convenience centers throughout the County that may be utilized to collect disaster debris.

For residents who choose to take materials to disposal facilities

Not all hazardous household waste is accepted at every convenience center.

The following items may be disposed of at the Hazardous Household Waste Facility, located at 1886 Highway 90 in Conway.

Dos and Don’ts for Curbside Debris Removal:

Do…
- Separate debris into six categories outlined
- Place separated debris in the right of way on public roads
- Secure doors on all appliances put out for pickup

Don’t…
- Put debris out on private roadways. Pickup is not available on private roadways
- Bag yard wasted and other debris (except household garbage)
- Block fire hydrants or other above-ground utilities
- Put out debris that is not disaster-related or for which you will receive insurance funding for private disposal

Safety First

All residents are urged to make personal safety the first priority. Only set out debris if it is safe to do so. If it is not safe for you to put out debris or for contractors to retrieve it, contractors will schedule another pass through your area in the future.

Residents in Private Communities

Pickup is not available on private roadways. Residents located in private or gated communities may contact private haulers or contractors to remove debris.
