Job Description

Job Title: / Fundraiser
Salary range: / £25,420 - £27,000 pa dependent upon experience
Hours of work: / 37.5 hours per week
Unit/Team/Region: / National (England)
Location: / Head Office based in Leamington Spa
Responsible to: / Chief Executive Officer
Line Management: / Volunteer fundraising support staff
Contract status: / Permanent
Annual Leave: / 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays per annum. The holiday year is from 1st January to 31st December.

Key Objectives

To support the development and delivery of the charity’s fundraising strategy

To have a methodical approach to creating a diverse fundraising programme that ensures all potential income streams are maximised

To identify new funding sources, potential funders, sponsors and partners

To work closely with the Senior Fundraiser and CEO to strategically deliver on fundraising targets against business needs

To submit tailored applications
To build and maintain effective relationships with an identified portfolio of prospective trusts, corporate clients and statutory contacts
To draft high quality bespoke grant applications and reports for new projects, adapting writing styles and language to ensure suitability for the target
To monitor and maintain accurate fundraising spreadsheets, files and databases

To provide and present fundraising reports to the CEO and the Board as and when required

To support the work of the fundraising volunteer staff

Main Duties

Specific

-  Support and develop the existing BBS fundraising programme

-  To work on tailored programmes that supports a multi -layer of income streams e.g. legacy, trusts, foundations, events, corporate sponsorship, payroll giving, community fundraising, ‘charity of the year’ opportunities

-  To evaluate the effectiveness of each income stream on a regular basis making proposals for change or enhancement where appropriate

-  Secure four and five figure partnerships for BBS

-  Write bids and presentations tailored to prospective corporate and statutory interests

-  Support and encourage a team of volunteers to help grow localised and national fundraising activity

-  To be responsible for maintaining a ‘live’ database of contacts that are maintained and managed to maximise fundraising opportunities through the year

-  To research the potential for BBS to further develop a trading arm and provide proposals and suggestions to the CEO and fundraising team

-  Keep up to date with best practice in fundraising and comply with relevant legislation

-  Adhere to and co-operate with all BBS policy and procedures

General

-  Ensuring an ongoing understanding and empathy for the blind and partially sighted community by maintaining a knowledge, passion and understanding of the work of the organisation and our associated partners and members

-  A commitment to a team philosophy, maintaining good working relationships with all of the BBS staff, board, members and associated partners

-  Attend and actively participate in weekly team meetings as directed by the CEO

-  Where appropriate, positively attend training sessions, meetings and presentations when required

Essential Criteria

Proven experience of being able to work strategically and creatively to gain A/I

results

Significant proven and diverse experience in charity fundraising A/I

Proven experience in successful bid writing A/I

Demonstrable experience of setting up and delivering corporate A/I

sponsorship and partner programmes

Demonstrable ability to manage a complex finance and CRM systems A/I

Proven experience in meeting fundraising targets A/I

Experience of managing and inspiring staff, particularly volunteers A/I

Ability to confidently lead on presentations and pitches to prospective A/I

corporate partners

Excellent prospect research skills A/I

Evidence based ability to write successful tailored bids and proposals A/I

Ability to work under pressure A/I

Excellent interpersonal skills A/I

Ability to work on their own as well as part of a team A/I

Ability to be flexible and to be able to work under pressure A/I

Experience of working with a disability sport based charity A/I
