"Deepen US-China Cooperation, Build-up Win-Win Situation" Symposium
ACSE successfully hosted the 12th ACSE annual meeting and "Deepen US-China Cooperation, Build-up Win-Win Situation" Symposium in Marriott Hotel at Schaumberg, ILUSA on October 10, 2004. The Plenary Session is hosted by Dr. Chunlai Yang, Secretary General of ACSE and Mrs. Wei Yang, Vice President of ACSE – Public Relationship. Dr. Wenqi Luan, President of ACSE delivered a welcome speech and summarized the progress ACSE has made in the past year. Mr. Yi He, Chairman of ACSE Board, announced the election results. Dr. Wenqi Luan was elected as ASCE President of 2004-2005 and Mrs. Xiang Chen, Mr. Xuezheng Dai, Mrs. Jian Fu, Mr. Jian Wu, Mr. Jie Xie, Mr. Chunlai Yang and Mr. Todd Zhou were elected as ACSE Board Members. More than 250 people attended the meeting/symposium.
As distinguished guests, Mr. Jinzhong Xu, Consul General, Consulate General of People’s Republic of China in Chicago delivered an important speech to encourage ACSE and its members continue to contribute to the science, technology and economics development in China. He also read the greeting letter from Mr. Dongpuo Guo, Chairman of Committee for Liaison with Hongkong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese, The National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC)andthe greeting letter from Mrs. Yujie Chen, Minister of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. Mr. Scott Bae, the representative of Governor of Illinois State read the greeting letter from Governor of the State of Illinois Mr. Rod Blagojevich. Greeting letter from Mayor of the City of Chicago, Richard Daley, presented by Mr. Gene Lee, Deputy Chief of Stuff at Mayor Office of Chicago. Dr. Alex Hugh, Chairman of Chinese American Association of Greater Chicago, Mr. David Hou, President of Chicago Peaceful Reunification of China, Mr. Peter Yau, President of Chicago Chinese Association, Mr. Qinglong Zhu, Advisor of Hong Kong Club, Mrs. Hong Liu, Director of Illinois Health Education Consortium, Mr. Tao Qu, Board Chairman of the Association of China Professionals Canada, Mrs. Lily Ku, Assistant Vice President of New York Life, Mr. Donld Coffey, General Manager of AIG, Dr. Yonggao Wang read the greeting letter from Dr. Tianyu Xiong, one of the ACSE Founders, First President of ACSE, Chief Representative of ACSE to China.
Mr. Weimin Lu, President, Best Buy Asia Pacific Ltd and Vice President, Best Buy Co. delivered a keynote speech “Opportunity amid China Economy Booming”. Ms. Gail Leiber, Senior Director of Employee and Leadership Development, represented by Mr. Kirk Hamsher, delivered the keynote speech of “The Key to Successful Personal and professional Development”. Mr. Vinay Gundotra, Chairman of Motorola Asian Business Council, Senior Director of PCS Supply Chain, Motorola, delivered the speech of “Working in the Corporate Diversity Culture”. Mr. Guojun Su, Director of Information Center, Liaoning Province Government, General Office, China, delivered the keynote speech of “Development in LiaoningProvince and the Opportunities for Investors and Entrepreneurs”. ACSE awards for outstanding contribution were presented to Mr. Jinzhong Xu, Mr. Thomas F. Chen (Abbott Laboratories) and keynote speakers.
In the luncheon session, Mr. Steve He announced the retired board members and they were rewarded for their excellent contribution. The retired board members are Yuan Men, Xiaohui Shen, Fushan Liu, Tiansheng Zhu, Qiang Xu, Yong Liu, Bo Yang, Qingxiao Ni, Ye Zhang and Steve He. The new board members were introduced. They are Xiang Chen, Xuezheng Dai, Jian Fu, Jian Wu, Jie Xie, Chunlai Yang and Todd Zhou. Julian Chu,the President of ACSE Milwaukee Chapter, attended the meeting. The new board had the first meeting and Dr. Gary Wang was elected as Board Chairman for Year 2004-2005.
There were three sub-sessions in the afternoon session. They are Session A: Sustainable Economic Development and Transform – the Opportunities for Overseas Professionals and US Companies

The banquet session was hosted by Dr. Wenqi Luan at the Chinese restaurant House of Hunan at Schaumburg.
