Due to the elections, at least two meetings are planned, and potentially a third for this evening’s time slot.

Last Meeting of 2016/2017 ACISC Council 7:00pm

  1. Welcome and Introductions (5 min)(Meeting Chairperson – Allan Conquer)
  2. Principal’s Report (10 min)

a)Introduction of new principal by Chairperson

-Principal Mira Nam-Wong worked with Anita at Birchmount Collegiate – background in Athletics

-Have 2 kids – one in Grade 11, and the other in 1st year in University

-Introduced Vice Principal Jason Smit

-Want to continue with the Summer School Program that help grant credit for 185 students

-Successful Grade 9 Day for students – pizza lunch, team building

-Meet your Teacher night last Tuesday was a success as many parents came to meet the teachers – open to suggestions and comments how to improve the process

-Approved the Leadership retreat, and music council retreat

-Will invite the other Councils in next Parent Council meeting to talk about their work and activities

-Fall sports begin with Cross Country starting; golf championship tomorrow

-Announce Linda Venning is the new Office Administrator

-University Fair happened

-EQAO: Math – Academics 89% above provincial standard, Applied 35% above provincial standard;

-EQAO: OSSLT – Deferred 6%, Academic 93% success, Applied 41% success

-Bell will be coming tomorrow so not system network or Wi-Fi for the day

-Enrollment: TDSB projected ACI for 1,213 students for 17-18, actual enrollment is 1,240 students – class size increased; ACI asked for additional teachers. TDSB granted 1.5 teachers – 9 new sections – 6 + 3 additional classes will be added – students might be moved to another class with another teacher – will try to alleviate disruptions in student schedules as much as possible – Music is the exemption (has over 50 students)

-Currently some ACI classes are 24% over the general Ministry mandated cap of 30 students – each subject has a different student cap for class size – the maximum allowed by the Ministry is 10% over the cap size. The Ministry might displaced student if the cap is exceeded

  1. Call to Order, Formal Meeting - Housekeeping (5 minutes)

a)Recognition of Quorum (Secretary) - proceed with quorem

b)Approval of Agenda (Meeting Chairperson) - approved

c)Declaration of Conflict of Interest (All ACISC members) - Vanya and Judy are teacher in TDSB, but not at ACI

d)Communications and Notifications (Meeting Chairperson, Secretary) - nothing to declare

e)Treasurer’s Report (Ms. Lynne Anderson – Treasurer) - $225 carryforward, the annual grant have not come into ACI account

****LYNNE***MOTION:“Move to approve the treasurer’s report as presented” - approved by Vanya, seconded by Sandra – majority of 2016-17 council members approved

  1. Old Business (10 minutes)

a)****LOUIS*** MOTION: “Move to approve the minutes of 24 January 2017 as presented”. – approved by Vanya, seconded by Lynn – majority of 2016-17 Council members approved

  • Draft Minutes are circulated in advance to ACISC Members. Only approved minutes are posted on the ACISC page on the ACI web site (agincourtcollegiate.ca/Councils/School Council)
  • Parent in attendance ask how long does it take for ACISC Meeting Minutes to be posted to ACI website – advise it could take over a month to be posted
  • Only approved minutes of current year are posted in ACISC page, but a hardcopy of past minutes are kept in a binder atPrincipal Office
  1. New Business (5 minutes)

a)No new business will be tabled to this council - no new business from old council

b)****ALLAN *** MOTION: “Move to dissolve 2016/2017 ACI School Council and move to the election of the 2017/2018 ACI School Council”. - Judy and Allan moved to dissolve 2016-17 council – Unanimously approved by the 2016-17 council members
