2016 ACES Last Chance SCY

February 20-21, 2016

SANCTION:

Held under USA Swimming Sanction No.2016-031. In granting this sanction it is understood and agreed that USA Swimming shall be free from any liabilities or claims for damages by reason of injuries to anyone during the conduct of the events.

LOCATION:

Arapahoe HS – 5300 feet.

POOL:

The Arapahoe pool is ten lanes, 25 yards with non-turbulent markers. The competition course has not been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C (4). The meet may be run utilizing up to nine lanes depending upon the size of the meet. Maximum of two lanes will be used for warm-up/warm-down. Depth at both the start and turn end at lane 9 is 4 feet and deeper at lane 1.

TIMING:

Colorado Timing System with touch pads, back-up buttons, and electronic scoreboard. Hy-Tek Meet Manager software.

SEEDING:

This meet will be seeded fastest to slowest.

REQUEST for OFFICIALS and ADDITIONAL TIMERS:

Teams are encouraged to provide officials to work this meet. Please have all officials’ contact Marty Palma by e-mail at ACES Swim Team will make every attempt to supply timers but may need help. Teams should plan on participating.

QUALIFYING TIMES:

Please reference qualifying time information on pages five and six.

Meet qualifying times are based on Silver State qualifying times plus 2 seconds per 50 of length except for 11-12's 200 Back, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 400 IM and 11-12/13-14 1650 Free which use LSC Age Group Championship qualifying times plus 2 seconds per 50 of length.

ACES Swimmers will be exempt from qualifying times.

SAFETY ISSUES:

All coaches, officials, parents, and swimmers should act in a safe manner.

All participants, visitor coaches and officials should be reminded that swimming venues have areas where additional care is needed. This includes but is not limited to slippery decks and hallways. Proper footwear and caution is recommended. Sitting on top of the low wall or jumping over the wall that surrounds the pool is NOT allowed.

No running or horseplay is allowed; it is the responsibility of the swimmer, coach, officials, and parents to monitor these activities.

The Arapahoefacility may have space limitations at certain times and locations within the pool area.

Remember safety first! Please help accommodate your neighbors.

RULES:
  • Current USA and Colorado Swimming rules shall govern the conduct of the meet.
  • Age of swimmer is determined as of February 20, 2016.
  • All USA Swimming athlete members entered in the meet must be under the supervision of a USA Swimming member coach during warm-up, competition, and warm-down.
  • Any swimmer without a coach in attendance must report to the Meet Director or Meet Referee who may assist the swimmer in making arrangements for such supervision. It is the swimmer’s responsibility to make such arrangements prior to the start of the meet.
  • Any swimmer entered in the meet, unaccompanied by a USA Swimming member coach, must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. It is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer’s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement and bring proof of certification to the meet.
  • Swimmers are limited to four (4) individual events for the meet.
  • The meet will be pre-seeded except for the 500/1650 Freestyle and the 400 IM, which will be deck seeded.
  • Positive check-in approximately 1 hour before the event. Seeding procedures will comply with the current USA Swimming Rulebook.
  • The 500/1650 Freestyle and 400 IM will alternate Women and Men and require the following:

The swimmers to provide their own counters and timers.

  • Depending upon the time line, all eventsmay be deck seeded and require a positive check-in. Information regarding this will be forwarded to the coaches via e-mail the week prior to the meet and posted on our web site at
  • FAILURE TO SWIM AFTER A POSITIVE CHECK-IN: Teams whose swimmers check in for events requiring a positive check-in may be fined $25.00 at the discretion of the Meet Referee for each swimmer who fails to swim in those events. The swimmer may be barred from further competition.
  • There will be no refunds if a session is cut short.
  • No exhibition swimming is allowed.
  • The Meet Referee will be the final authority for conduct of the meet.
WARM UP PROCEDURES:
  • Warm-up will be conducted in accordance with Colorado Swimming Inc. procedures. Backstroke starts are NOT allowed during general warm-up. No equipment may be used during the warm-up periods including but not limited to: fins, paddles, kick boards, pull buoys, cords for assisted or resisted swimming.
  • Coaches will be responsible for the conduct and safety of their swimmers.
  • The warm up schedule will be posted at the pool and on the ACES website
  • The Meet Director will determine the warm-up schedule.The start time for the Sundayafternoon session warm-up may be modified, depending upon the finish time of the middle session. Please check the ACES website (see above) for exact information.
ELIGIBILITY:

Open to all swimmers holding a 2016 USA Swimming membership card. Any swimmer that appears on the CSI exceptions report without registration must come to the meet prepared to show their card or they will be deck registered before they can enter the water. A surcharge for deck registration will apply, $28.00 year round and $15.00 for seasonal plus the normal registration fee.

ENTRY FEES:
  • Individual event fee is $5.00 per event. There is a $7.00 surcharge per swimmer. All fees must accompany entries. Make check payable to the Aces Swim Club ($.75 of each entry fee goes to the CSI Splash Fund).
  • Deck/late entries or changes are $7.00 per event, plus surcharge; swimmers not already in the meet must show proof of registration.
ENTRIES:
  • Entry times must be in Short Course Yards.
  • No-Time (NT) Entries Will Not Be Accepted! No Time entries will be rejected. It is recommended the coach obtain entry times during practice that are well within the ability of the swimmer.
  • Entries will be accepted via e-mail (preferred) or CD’s using Hy-Tek Ltd. software.
  • Non-Hy-Tek entries will be accepted in Word, PDF, or e-mail format. When submitting entries in any of these formats, please include name, age (as of the first day of the meet), USA Swimming ID, and team code. Teams sending five (5) or more swimmers will be assessed a $25.00 surcharge if entries are not submitted using Hy-Tek software.
  • Please include the coaches’ name, address, e-mail and phone number with all entries. If you wish to confirm receipt of entries, please contact entry chair via e-mail only.
ENTRY DEADLINE/OPENING

Entries will be accepted beginning Thursday February 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM MST. Entries received prior to the opening will not be accepted. The entry deadline is Monday, February15, 2016 at 5:00 PM (MST). Email entries will be accepted in the order they are received, and any entries submitted should be considered official. Full payment for email entry must be postmarked within 48 hours of confirmation and acceptance of entries. Entry updates are permitted, however DELETIONS WILL NOT BE REFUNDED. In cases where payment, or arrangements for payment, is not received within the appropriate time, entries for team/individual may be deleted.

RESTRICTIONS:
  • USA SWIMMING RULES 103.11 AND 103.12 REGARDING TOBACCO AND ALCOHOL USE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.
  • The use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone camera, is not allowed in changing areas, restrooms, or locker rooms.
  • The use of visual recording devices is allowed on the deck, but is specifically PROHIBITED in the area directly behind and adjacent to the starting blocks at both ends of the pool.
  • Except where venue facilities require otherwise, changing into or out of swimsuits other than in locker rooms or other designated areas is prohibited.
  • All swimmers entered in the competition must comply with the USA Swimming Rulebook Section 102.8 Swimwear except as provided in Rule 205.10.1
  • Parking restrictions may be in effect during the meet.
AWARDS AND SCORING:

There will be no awards or scoring.

CONCESSIONS:

Limited concessions will be available.

HOSPITALITY:

Hospitality will be available for Coaches and Officials.

STATE JO’s:

The ACES Last Chance Meet satisfies the CSI entry deadline for last chance entries for the upcoming State Championship meet. All new state qualifying times must be turned in along with the correct payment submitted to the Meet Director at the Last Chance Meet BEFORE the end of the meet. Updating previously entered times is not permitted. Meet Entry Chair will forward all last chance qualifications to the LSC State meet Entry Chair. (Entries will not be accepted from individuals or teams, only from last chance host).
