Ace it! Tutoring Community Leader Letter #3

Please customize this letter with your specific program information.

Dear [Insert community leader’s Name],

I‘m writing to give you a quick update on the Ace it! Tutoring free tutoring program at (NAME) school. We kicked off our first tutoring sessions (last week? yesterday? ) with xx students from the community. We’re off to a great start, and are confident that this educational opportunity will boost not only our students’ academic performance, but their self-confidence and motivation to learn, as well.

Your support has been so vitally important to the success we’ve had reaching out to parents – and making sure the students attend their tutoring sessions. Will you help us build on this success by continuing to reach out to parents and guardians, and remind them that building a strong home-school connection is essential to ensuring their child gets the most out of our tutoring program?

Please encourage parents/guardians to take the following simple steps to stay involved:

·  Make sure the child attends every tutoring session. If the student is sick or has to miss a session for any reason, the parent should call [Insert your local “Ace it! Tutoring phone number] right away to let us know.

·  Show interest in what the student is learning. Ask for feedback after each tutoring session. What did she learn? What was challenging?

·  Praise the child’s good efforts and hard work. Offer reassurances if he faces struggles and challenges - they’re a normal part of the learning process.

·  Find ways in regular daily life and activities to practice what the child is learning. Practice math skills at the grocery store, or read the paper together.

Thank you again for your support, and your commitment to the children in our community. Working together, we can help them improve academically, build their self-confidence and a positive attitude about learning—which will pay off for years to come.

(a)  Sincerely,
