CLA - Special Olympics Partnership for the 2016 Bayou Hills Run, March 5th
The Bayou Hills Run, presented by Creative Learning Academy, has been bringing the community together since 1978. Each year, CLA students, families, and our valued sponsors engage with the local community during the celebration of fitness and health. It is now our goal to feature a local, non-profit “Partner in Fitness” each year. This year, Creative Learning Academy has selected Special Olympics Florida.
Creative Learning Academy hasinvited the youth of the Special Olympics in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties to join us at Bayou Hills Run on Saturday, March 5th in Bayview Park. The one mile Kids Run will serve as our opportunity to truly partner with the Special Olympics teams in an easy and fun way!
How local families can get involved: If interested in learning how you can join us as a Special Olympics-Bayou Hills Run “buddy” during the Kids Run, we want to hear from you! We are asking preschool - 8th grade children to register for the Kids Run (if not registered for 10K or 5K) and be available to run, walk, or jog with a child from the Special Olympics team. If your child is already planning on registering for the 10K or 5K, they are welcome to join the Kids Run at no cost and team up with our guests that day. The Kids Run event begins after the 10K is complete.

Special Olympics Athlete Oath:"Let me win, if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt."
Michael Stone, Special Olympics Director of Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties says, “Special Olympics Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties are pleased to support the Creative Learning Academy and their upcoming 2016 Bayou Hills Run Kids Run event. Our athletes are definitely looking forward to the opportunity. Athletes will also be available to answer questions regarding volunteering, becoming a coach or joining as an athlete.”
The Special Olympics Florida teams were also invited to host a booth at the race to build awareness of all they do in our community. We believe this partnership with Special Olympics is a prime opportunity to really connect with people and cultivate valuable friendships.
The Bayou Hills Run serves as a celebration of fitness, health, and community. There’s something for everyone! This family-friendly event began in 1978 and was founded on the mission of encouraging students and families to develop and enjoy a healthy lifestyle through running. Inviting the Special Olympics youth to be a part of this community event brings that mission to life.
