Position Title:Accountant

POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Director of Finance, responsible for managing the accounting functions of the organization. Makes recommendations to management on changes and improvements to systems.

POSITION-SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Accounting Functions:

*a.Perform the monthly close of the financial statements.

*b. Maintain the depreciation schedules for the organization.

*c.Manages grant reporting and assists with grant budgeting.

*d.Assists Director of Finance with special projects as needed, including budgeting, productivity analysis, forecasting for growth opportunities, cost reporting, UDS reporting, etc.

e. Maintain detailed knowledge of following programs: accounts payable, payroll, purchasing and daily cash deposit and be crossed trained in those programs.

*f.Maintains integrity of cash receipts internal control function.

2.Computer Systems Functions:

*a.Maintains detailed knowledge of accounts payable program, payroll/personnel program and general ledger program.

*b.Ensures that the system provides appropriate and accurate data and is backed-up on a regular basis.

*3.Demonstrates an understanding of CHC's mission statement in performing all aspects of this position.

*4.Demonstrates a caring and helpful attitude when interacting with patients, vendors, and fellow employees. Strives to build cooperative partnerships, by treating each person both inside and outside of the organization as a customer.

*5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other clinic personnel.

*6. Handles confidential information with tact and discretion on a need-to-know basis as specified in CHC’sPersonnel Policies.

*7. Participates in maintaining departmental continuous quality improvement.

8. Follows established policies and procedures for safety, infection and exposure control.

9. Participates in management meetings as necessary.

10.Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelors degree in accounting or business.

Licensure:None

Experience:Accounting experience and previous non-profit and/or health-field experience preferable

Hours of Work:8:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday

Position Status:Exempt

Exposure:None

Physical:Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard.
