LOCATION:Operational Centre, Cardiff (but flexible)

SALARY: £20 per/hour plus expenses

Job Summary

To respond and manage emergency calls whilst attending events as an event paramedic commensurate with the role and responsibilities.

At all times provide specialist, clinical, social and holistic care to undertake clinical assessment and interventions those individuals in the pre-hospital environment, which may include stadia, concerts, motorsports, road races etc.

This may encompass working on both Emergency Ambulances, Rapid Response Vehicles and within treatment units as required

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Attend events and undertake clinical responsibilities up to and including Paramedic level in the pre hospital care environment.
  1. Maintain professional registration as a Paramedic, undertake continual professional development relevant to the role and complete mandatory training.
  1. Maintaining skill levels and knowledge to enable you to carry out procedures in accordance with JRCALC Guidelines and St John Policies and Procedures.
  1. Undertake clinical supervision and mentor new and junior personnel, providing feedback on performance in a constructive and non-threatening manner.
  1. Carry out duties involving the care and maintenance of vehicles, equipment and premises. Be responsible for ensuring that all defects and deficiencies of vehicles and equipment are reported using the correct documentation.
  1. Ensure vehicles and equipment are ready for immediate use at all times and champion responsibility for the cleanliness of equipment and vehicles, ensuring that the interior/exterior is maintained to a high standard in line with current Infection Prevention Control recommendations.
  1. Ensure that correct Medicines Management Procedures are followed at all times in relation to Prescription Only Medicines and Controlled Drugs.
  1. Maintain accurate vehicle and patient documentation including confidential details whilst remaining sensitive to the confidential nature of the information being recorded.
  1. Conduct dynamic risk assessments when responding to incidents for protection of yourself and others, recognising that the pre-hospital environment is often unpredictable and can pose a variety of threats to welfare (physical. environmental and emotional).
  1. Adhere to the policy and procedures of St John Cymru Wales.
  1. To ensure appropriate and timely referrals are made to other agencies (including non-clinical referrals relating to safeguarding) utilising agreed procedures.
  1. Be willing to travel across Wales – and on occasions the United Kingdom – based on operational demand and requirements.
  1. Perform any other duties commensurate with these responsibilities, the management level of the post and skills and qualifications of the post-holder.
