Privacy Notice – Data Protection Act 1998

Skerne Park Academy is a data controller for the purposes of the Data Protection Act. We, the Academy, collect personal information fromyou and we may also receive information about you/your child from any previous schools and the Learning Records Service. We hold this personal data to:

  • Support your child’s learning
  • Monitor and report on your child’s progress
  • Provide appropriate pastoral care
  • Assess how well our school is doing

Information about you/your child that we hold includes your contact details, National Curriculum Assessment Results, attendance information and personal characteristics such as your ethnic group, any special educational needs your child may have and relevant medical information. We also generate and hold your child’s unique learner number (ULN) or, if this is not your child’s first school, we inherit the number from their former school via the LEA.

We will not give information about you or your child/children to anyone without your consent unless the law and our policies allow us to.

We are required by law to pass some information about your child/children to the Department for Education (DfE) and, in turn, this will be available for the use of Darlington Local Authority (LA).
