Four finalists (from those indicating that they are participating in the Neter Award competition) will be chosen to give oral presentations at the conference, and the winner will receive a $100 award. To compete, participants must be students and must be active (paid) members of the local Western New York American Society for Microbiology. Please submit this form and your abstract as a separate PDF file (see guidelines below) to Katie Ohms, no later than April 12th, 2017, by emailing it to .

·  Abstracts must have 1 inch margins.

·  Must be sent as a PDF file.

·  Use Arial 12 pt font.

·  Title must be in Bold capital letters.

·  Under the title, list all Authors and their Institutional Affiliations.

·  List presenting Author first, underline name, last name first.

·  Abstract should not exceed 1 page.

·  Abstract will be printed in black and white. Please do not include color graphs.

·  Your abstract will be published as it is submitted. Please ensure you carefully read and proofread your document prior to submission, paying specific attention to proper formatting of all special characters and symbols.

·  Poster boards will be 3 feet high x 4 feet wide

Revised Neter Award Competition

Eligibility: Students must be registered for the Buffalo Conference on Microbial Pathogenesis, must have submitted an abstract by the deadline, and must be a paid member of the Western New York Chapter of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), who sponsors this award.

Selection of Finalists: The scientific review committee will select four finalists based on evaluation of the submitted abstracts.

Competition: The four finalists will give 12-minute talks at the Conference on May 3rd. The scientific review committee will select the winner. The WNY ASM will give the winner a cash prize and the opportunity to present their work at the WNY ASM annual meeting.

Poster Award Competition

Eligibility: All trainees who attend the conference and present a poster are eligible for the Buffalo Conference on Microbial Pathogenesis Poster Award.

Competition: Conference attendees will select the three best posters by ballot. Awards will be presented at the conclusion of the conference.
