Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the Instructional Data Specialist is to collect and analyze student and school achievement data.The Instructional Data Specialist informs strategic planning and school improvement goals while building capacity in teachers to use data to inform instruction.The Instructional Data Specialist collaborates with school administrators, grade level/subject chairpersons, and teachers across all grade levels. This role reports to both the PYP and MYP Principals.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Analyzes and prepares reports from local, state, and national assessment data as it relates to individual student performance and school improvement;
  • Develops and maintains historical student and school data files to monitor and track performance;
  • Interprets and reviews assessment data with administrators and teachers; support planning of action steps;
  • Compiles data from multiple assessments to develop student, subject, grade-level, or school achievement profiles;
  • Works with staff in one-on-one and group settings to conduct training in the use of data to improve student outcomes;
  • Ensures the validity of all data presented to staff;
  • Attends, and leads as appropriate, training sessions and site meetings related to assigned responsibilities;
  • Promotesschool-wide instructional priorities by providing reports and summaries of student achievement; and
  • Conducts and facilitates analysis of formative and summative student data and recommend modifications to instruction.

Responsibilitiesrelated to teachers include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Actively participates in grade level and department meetings on a weekly basis;
  • Provides feedback on formative and summative assessments, ensuring alignment with inquiry-based and concept-driven instruction;
  • Provides feedback towards the evaluation of teachers in Grades 3-5; and
  • Supports the utilization of the State Longitudinal Data System (SLDS) and monitors staff usage of this tool.

Responsibilitiesrelated to school administration include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Keeps the principal and instructional leaders regularly informed of school data trends.
  • Participates in the selection of PYP staff.
  • Liaises with Instructional Coaches and other administrators to support the professional growth of teachers;

Role in state reporting:

  • Collects and enters all CCRPI pre-and post data;
  • Collects and maintains CCRPI documentation for Exceeding the Bar Indicators; and
  • Facilitates climate surveys and data collection

Other duties and responsibilities:

  • Facilitates quarterly benchmark assessments for each content area and use of such data;
  • Serves on the Academic Excellence Committee and provides achievement data to inform committee goals; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Principals and/or Assistant Principals.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks and apply critical thinking skills; and
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher
  • Certification in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and at least one additional field (mathematics preferred)
  • 5+ years experience in an elementary setting
  • Proven teaching ability in Grades 3-5
  • Ability to act as a pedagogical leader for PYP
  • Thorough understanding of, and agreement with, the PYP fundamental concepts and program
  • Organizational skills
  • IT literacy
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Ability to facilitate whole-school discussions of basic pedagogical issues and interdisciplinary activities and projects across traditional departmental and grade level/year lines
  • Appropriate supervisory skills
  • Ability to use assessment data in a meaningful way
  • Ability to effectively re-deliver professional learning sessions
