Student Vox Pops: Groupwork

About three of my classes I have group work in.

I think every single one of my subjects has group work.

So far I've got two group assignments.

I don't prefer group work over it, I don't know, it depends on what I'm doing I suppose.

So far it has been pretty good, I've got a really good group for my first one that is due not too long away so it is good.

No I haven't done any group work.

We are doing a couple of group discussions especially in history and I love it because everyone just has so much to offer and people say things and you didn't even think about it and then you're thinking about it and it is really helpful, I like doing independent work as well but the group is good.

Best experience so far is learning how to do the group assignments, bonding with people, that is the main topic of one of the subjects is teamwork.

I have a couple of groups because I do four labs a week so I've got four different groups that I work with.

So far we have only had one group assignment and my group has been pretty good, they have shown up to the meetings they have had to do and everyone has been doing the work so we have been cooperating really well.

I've had one group assignment so far, that was pretty good because I got to know the people in my group really well and now we are good friends.

If you get a good group which I am with a lot of my media studies it is great because you work with them, they work with you and everything gets done.

I found that doing group work and assignments with group work is interesting, it is good because you get to meet new students and you get to see what they are doing and you split up the work.

Someone was letting the team down not doing the work until it was too late, so I found it really difficult to work with that, but all in all we got the assignment in on time so it kind of worked out.

I did have one group assignment which we did quite well so they are a good thing because they lessen the workload.

It is funny because for group assignments I will do the work so I don't let down the other people but when it comes to the individual I will leave it to the last minute because I'm like no one is relying on the it's alright I can do this tomorrow night.

I'm not really a fan of all the group work that we have to do.

In the majority it works well, there are very few people that have severe problems that can't be fixed with a good sit down and chat over a cup of tea.

And they have made up this thing of team journal where you are meant to write down what you have done, what everyone's done and sign it and stuff but it doesn't really work when you think about it because you don't really want to confront people about problems and no one wants to get marked down and they are obviously not going to sign it if they don't agree.

It has worked well so far in all of my groups, I've had great people to work with, they have been really quite happy to compromise and do their bit which is great. I haven't heard any bad reports about other people's groups but I'm sure there are cases.

I do think they can come up with a better way, maybe independent journals or something.
