Welcome Back Edition September 2014

About the Sixth Grade Team:

Mr.Furcron:I was born, raised, and still currently live in Lancaster. I went to college at Buffalo State where I received both of my degrees in education. Before starting in Holland, I taught in the Lancaster School District for the previous six years. During that time, I had the opportunity to teach grades 2-6 with the most recent being second grade last year. I am beyond excited to be starting the next phase of my career here in Holland!

Miss May: I have my master’s degree from the University at Buffalo and a professional teaching certification. I coach field hockey and love the outdoors. Last year I taught fourth grade in Holland. In 2012, I taught in North Carolina. I havealso held various positions in the Holland Central School District including Math AIS. I am privileged to continue to teach in such a great community!

Mrs. Ruiz: I am from South Wales, and am thrilled to be teaching in my home district! The past two years I have taught 2nd and 3rd grade in Amherst, as well as teaching science summer school in Buffalo. I have my B.S. from SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry and my master’s degree from Buffalo State College. I have two children; my daughter Jade is eleven years old and is in 6th grade at Iroquois Middle School, and my son Kaiden is nine and he is in fourth grade at Wales Primary.

Denise Lawton: I provide special education services for the sixth grade. I am the case manager for sixth grade students. I have four children, Dennis, Thomas, William and Anna. Anna is my only child still home, and she is going into 8th grade. The boys are married or in college. Our family loves to travel and to camp. We have a wonderful golden retriever named Daisy Mae. I know most of the students from working

with them in fifth grade. We are going to have a super year!!

Birthdays:

Throughout the school year we will be celebrating birthdays. Please feel free to send in a treat with your child to celebrate his/her special day. Please send in a peanut free treat that we can enjoy during ELA (around 10:30am). Please be sure that the treat is pre-cut, so it can be easily served by students. If your child has a summer birthday, we will celebrate his/her birthday before the close of school in June.

Meet the Teacher’s Night:

The Elementary School "Meet the Teacher's Night" will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 18th. Classroom teachers will discuss their curriculum and anticipate meeting individual parents. The Jr. Harvest Show will run in conjunction from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
