About the author: Ing. (Master of Sciences) Jan Fikacek, born 21.4.1957 inOstrava (CzechRepublic)

The author has taken photographs since his youth. However, he proves the principle that a person can become a photograph only after his forty, when he chills out, matures and gains a true eye. His photos started arousing interest after the accession of a digital photography. Since that time (around 1997), he has constantly attended to the photography. Although his background is the information science and the information technology, he has always tent towards the philosophy (i.e. the book “Technology of reality construction”) that he gave lectures about at the Charles University in Prague, and towards the arts (i.e. cooperation with the Film and TV school of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and acting as opposer to diploma works at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague etc.). He has always ranged between exact sciences (theoretical physics, computer science) and less exact domains. This approach of involving both fields can be best characterized by his lectures “Philosophy of virtual reality”.

The photographer publishes his work foremost at the specialized Internet servers ( etc.). He had two “paper” presentations, one titled “European cities in mirrors” in Jicin (Czech Republic) in 2002 and another one called “Optical isolation” at the College of Europe in Bruges in 2003. His photos are for sale in a few small arts boutiques at the Old Town of Prague.
