Living Healthy Naturally

With our Living Healthy Naturally program, you can save up to 30 percent on 10 complementary and alternative medicine services through participating network practitioners in all 50 states. The alternative medicine disciplines include acupuncture, massage therapy, mind-body therapies, naturopathic medicine, nutrition counseling, personal training, Pilates, qi (chi) gong, tai chi, and yoga.

About the Alternative Therapies

·  Acupuncture. An ancient Chinese medical procedure involving stimulation of anatomical points on the body—most commonly with hair-thin, solid, metallic needles—to ease pain, to treat disease, and for other health purposes.

·  Massage Therapy. The practice of manipulating muscles and connective tissues to enhance circulation and tissue function and to promote relaxation and well-being. A licensed massage therapist should perform the therapy.

·  Mind-Body Medicine. A discipline that looks at a person’s whole being, acknowledging that emotional, mental, social, and spiritual factors are just as important as physical symptoms in understanding and treating disease. Mind-body medical practitioners believe that people can be active participants in their own health care and view illness as an opportunity for personal growth, self-awareness, and psychological transformation.

·  Naturopathic Medicine. A distinct system of medicine that is based on a belief in the healing power of nature, in particular in the body’s innate ability to fight disease and heal itself. Practiced by naturopathic doctors, it uses a wide range of natural treatment methods, rather than drugs or surgery, to stimulate the body’s own healing powers.

·  Nutrition Counseling. Advice and assistance about appropriate food and nutrient consumption for weight management or for the prevention or treatment of certain health conditions. Counselors assess health goals, lifestyle, motivation level, activity level, and food preferences before designing a personalized treatment plan.

·  Personal Trainers and Exercise Specialists. Professionals trained in exercise science, nutrition, health screening, and fitness assessment to assist the exercising individual or group in maximizing the potential to reach their exercise goals.

·  Pilates. A unique method of body conditioning that uses spring-based pieces of equipment to integrate muscle control, proper breathing, flexibility, strength training, and body awareness.

·  Qi (Chi) Gong. A Chinese discipline that uses breathing, meditation, visualization, and repetitive physical exercises to promote health and vitality by strengthening the flow of qi (energy) throughout the body.

·  Tai Chi. An ancient Chinese discipline that uses meditation and deep breathing to reduce stress, promoting balance and flexibility, and even ease arthritis pain.

·  Yoga. A system of exercises that encourages the union of mind, body, and spirit to achieve a state of balance and harmony.
